On Monday, October 7, President of  the College of applied technical science of Niš (Niš, the Republic of Serbia) Saša Nikolić, and Acting Rector of Samara University Vladimir Bogatyrev  signed a cooperation agreement.
This is a framework document, according to which universities are planning to exchange students, professors and implement joint research projects.
One of the most relevant and promising projects, the implementation of which will begin this year, concerns the creation of a drone for agricultural needs. It will be funded by both the Russian and the Serbian sides.
Serbian colleagues got interested in Samara University competencies in the field of aviation technology and unmanned aerial systems, in particular, at the International Technical Fair – 2019. It was held in Serbia, where scientists from the College of applied technical science of Niš saw the development of Samara University –  “Indigo” quadrocopter. This unmanned aerial system is designed to conduct the detailed monitoring of complex energy, hydraulic and industrial facilities, and can also be upgraded for other tasks. The task of using drones in agriculture is relevant for Serbia as for an agrarian country. And therefore, the representatives of  the College of applied technical science of Niš  highly appreciated the potential of the presented unmanned complex for solving of this problem, suggesting Samara University to begin joint development.
"Our projects and innovations are focused primarily on the aerospace industry. The main concept that Samara University is currently implementing is to provide multilevel remote sensing of the Earth, starting with low-flying vehicles – drones, then – atmospheric and stratospheric airships and stratostats and, finally,  – satellites, – said Vladimir Bogatyrev. – Samara University is fighting for the practical implementation of this concept. The project on unmanned aerial vehicles, being under discussion now, is important for us, because it represents the part of this large-scale concept".
