“Korean students study in the cities of the Far East, Siberia, in Moscow - in Moscow Aviation Institute and Bauman Moscow State Technical University, but not in Samara. We would like to “open” your university for our young people. We are interested in student exchange programs and summer schools. Our scientists would like to participate in your conferences”, - noted Lim Sang Hyun, Director of KORUSTEC at a meeting with Vladimir Bogatyrev, Pro-Rector for SSAU Educational and International Activities.
KORUSTEC is a representative of the National Research Foundation of Korea of the Ministry of Science in the field of information and communication technologies and future planning. Meanwhile, there aren’t representatives of South Korea among the foreign students enrolled in Samara University (joined SSAU and SSU).
Koreans are especially interested in training space experts in Samara University, because South Korea has one of the most ambitious space programs in the world, and Samara is one of the recognized world centres of aerospace science and industry. “The first Korean astronaut Li So Yeon flew just on “Soyuz”, - said Wu San Wook, KORUSTEC representative.
During the meeting the guests from South Korea have also learned that SSAU is engaged in developments in the area of small satellites and nanosatellites, engine building programs and image processing systems, including those received by spacecraft. In addition, they got an overview of the way of the university cooperation with the largest enterprises of Samara aerospace cluster.
“We recently launched the university-based production line for nanosatellites testing. The project, jointly with the Berlin Technical University, will help international students to get the necessary training in missile and space specialties”, - said Sergey Titz, Head of SSAU International Department.
Following the meeting results, initially for cooperation with SSAU, Korean side intends to send Korean students which have already been studying in the Russian Federation to summer schools of Samara University and forum iVolga.
