40 students from 19 countries graduated this year from the Pre-University Training Center. In the Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, future bachelor's, master's, and PhD students in engineering, economics, and humanities received certificates confirming their completion of the pre-university course, which focused on learning Russian from scratch to level B1.
A year of intensive work is behind them, and now Russian language teachers Olga Zhuravlyova, Marina Kolesnik, Oksana Yarun, and Elena Vashuta presented their students with their first Russian-language educational certificates.
Moreover, some of the students also earned diplomas this year by participating in various Russian language Olympiads. For instance, Salvador Ronseros from Peru took first place in the IV Open International Russian Language Olympiad dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, held at the Moscow State University of Civil Engineering. David Inyumba from Congo and Raissa Ngémadji from Chad became winners of the XV International Pushkin Contest "What's in My Name to You...?" in the "Essay Writing" category. The past year was also successful for Olga Zhuravlyova, who prepared the students for these competitions, as she defended her PhD thesis.
The graduates demonstrated their monologue speech skills by delivering thank-you addresses.
"At the organizational meeting in September, I was surprised when the Center's Director, Evgeny Stefansky, said that during this academic year he would be our dad, and our Russian language teachers would be our moms," said Omid Tehrani Aghamola from Iran. "But later I understood these weren't just words. Our teachers not only taught us Russian but also explained how life works in Russia, helped us solve difficult problems, and organized many excursions for us."
"For me, you are already the tenth graduating class," said Evgeny Stefansky, Director of the Pre-University Training Center and Doctor of Philology, concluding the ceremony. "We are the happiest people. Because your real moms and dads wait about twenty years, after your first words, for you to learn to express intelligent thoughts, while we go through this journey in just a few months. We are happy people because when we travel abroad, we meet our graduates and participants of our Summer Schools who remember us and feel gratitude towards us."
