On Friday, June 20, Samara University was visited by a delegation from India: Anand Kamavisdar, Adviser on Science and Technology at the Indian Embassy in Russia, and the representatives of the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Professors Niraj Kumbhakarna and Nagendra Kumar, postgraduate student Sonaj Sachin Chandrakant.
Anand Kamavisdar’s visit was aimed at expanding scientific cooperation with Russian regional universities, supported of national grant programs in Russia and India.
Sergey Titz, Head of the University’s International Activities Directorate, and Anton Gulbis, Head of the International Cooperation Department, provided the delegation with information on the University’s educational policy and research infrastructure. Dmitry Uglanov, Professor of the Department of Thermal Engineering and Thermal Engines, spoke about specific features of scientific research in his field.
The guests were particularly interested in short international educational programs in engineering, fundamental mathematics and physics, as well as language schools. The parties are interested in promoting the Russian language in India and Hindi in Russia, for the purpose of cross-cultural enrichment of both countries’ students.
India and Russia, namely, the Russian Science Foundation and the Government of India, have signed the agreement on mutual support for joint research in certain fields of science. Under this agreement, by September 2025, Samara University is going to provide its proposals for broader and more systematic cooperation with universities in India.
