From April 22 to 25, 2026, the city of Pyatigorsk hosted the 13th International Congress on Cognitive Linguistics—a pivotal event for researchers exploring the intricate relationship between language, thought, and culture. The congress brought together more than 250 participants from across Russia, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Tambov, Belgorod, and Pyatigorsk itself, as well as international delegates from the Ignacio Agramonte University in Camagüey, Cuba.

The forum featured presentations by leading figures in Russian cognitive linguistics, including N. N. Boldyrev, V. I. Karasik, and V. Z. Dem’yankov, whose pioneering work continues to shape the field. Attendees praised the high academic standard, thematic diversity, and contemporary relevance of the research presented—from conceptual metaphor and embodied cognition to discourse analysis and cross-cultural semantics.

Samara University was represented by two distinguished scholars from the Department of German Philology:

    • Dr. Yekaterina Bespalova, Professor of Philology (participating online),
    • Dr. Yulia Bakulina, Associate Professor of Philology (attending in person).

Their contributions underscored Samara University’s active engagement in cutting-edge linguistic research and its commitment to fostering international academic dialogue in the humanities.
