Graduates get a Bachelor’s degree and an additional title of “Engineer Bachelor”. The duration of studies is 4 years. The syllabus includes general subjects in humanities, social sciences, economics, mathematics, and natural sciences. Professional subjects include Mathematical Logic and Theory of Algorithms, Computational Mathematics, Discrete Mathematics, Computer and Computing Systems Organisation, Complexity Algorithms and Analysis, Object-Oriented Programming, Logical Programming, Supercomputers and their Application, Parallel Computing Techniques, Internet Technologies, Parallel Programming, and others. For training purposes, the Department of Software Systems is using its unique laboratories equipped with advanced computer aids supported by the specialised licensed software.
The graduates’ activities are aimed at researching theoretical and procedural basics as well as the development of information industry technologies related to the acquisition, generation, processing, transmitting, distribution, storage, operating, representation, application and protection of various kinds of data; at working out standardized languages for formalization of applicative knowledge and developing personally accessible subject-oriented informatisation technologies; as well as at developing information technologies (IT) in the form of IT systems, products, and services, such as: information-computer networks, computer systems, information systems, databases, information contents, electronic collections, network applications, system and applied software products. Professional areas for Bachelors of Information Technologies include research centres, state authorities, educational institutions, high-technology companies of IT-industry and business of various types of ownership dealing with the development of sophisticated software, of IT products and services. The graduates get such jobs as engineers and programmers, carry out research and manage companies’ departments or the whole companies.
The degree programme 02.04.02 “Fundamental Informatics and Information Technologies" includes a Master’s degree programme in Software Engineering.
