Regional stage of Russia-wide competition in IT projects “It- break” took place in SSAU. Seven projects related to medicine, education and the space reached the final.
SSAU Rector E.V. Shakhmatov welcomed the contestants: “This event is taking place at a time when we are reconsidering development program of our university in connection with a plan to get in the top 100 of the world universities. Information technologies are of great importance in this program”. Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Investments and Trade of Samara Region D. V. Gorbunov mentioned: “We do a lot of things to build on innovative infrastructure, but none of this will work till the young, energetic people like you, which are full of ideas and can turn the world upside down will come”.
Projects of young talents were evaluated by SSAU Pro-Rector on Informatization D.E. Pashkov and Deputy General Director of JSC “Russian Electronics” on strategic development and implementation of government programs A.V. Brykin.
This was followed by a presentation of the seven projects. Almost all of them were submitted by SSAU students. So, 6th faculty undergraduate Eugene Zimichev is working on the creation of program complex elements for receiving, storage and processing of large-format hyperspectral images of earth remote sensing. Ilya Kuznetsov proposed to automate the learning process at SSAU school of informatics. Konstantin Belov and Ivan Petrukhin proposed to use virtual worlds in the process. Following the development trend of IT-medicine in Samara Region (as was recently stated by the Governor N. I. Merkushkin), a number of developments of Master’s Degree students of SSAU, Samara State Medical University and Samara State Technical University were focused on informatization of domestic medicine.
“I would say that the level of theoretical training of students is very high. They know and can do a lot, - pointed Arseniy Valeryevich Brykin. - If you consider the projects from the perspective of application, there are those who exactly know their future consumers. For example, Anna Stepashkina with her cat for rehabilitation of children with autism. That is, some have proved to be talented developers and others presented their projects ready for commercialization. We are interested in both. One of the objectives of the contest is to find talented children and to orient their future work in a right way”.
Applications for the contest “It- breakthrough” may be submitted till April 1 on the site www.tvoystart.ru. Results of Russia-wide competition will be summing up on April 17 in Moscow at the headquarters of the State Corporation “Russian electronics”. Three winners will be defined in the three competition categories: winners of the first and second prizes (50,000 and 100,000 roubles respectively) and the Grand Prix. Winners will also be able to implement their project at one of the enterprises of JSC “Russian Electronics”. Photo captions:
