Intelligent Image Analysis
Enrollment status: full-time
Duration: 2 years
Qualification: Master Degree
Price: 109 000 RUB per year
The master’s degree program is implemented in conjunction with the RAS Image Processing Systems Institute (IPSI) (RAS IPSI) through the resources of the globally-recognized leading scientific school in the Russian Federation, under the guidance of a distinguished member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Samara University President Viktor Soifer.
The program has been developed on the basis of the standards espoused by the international initiative CDIO and is aimed at training specialists for the development and application of cutting-edge mathematical methods, software, processing systems and technologies for the processing, recognition and intelligent analysis of images.
Alongside traditional studies (as part of a group), individual training is conducted for graduate students under the guidance of highly-qualified instructors - doctors and candidates of science.
An important element of the program is the teaching of core disciplines and working with study materials in the English language.
Program graduates are geared towards working at companies and organizations engaged in the development of applied and system software, as well as towards research work using cutting-edge IT systems and technologies, mathematical methods and models.
Brief characterisation of the programme
The master’s degree program is implemented in conjunction with the RAS Image Processing Systems Institute (IPSI) (RAS IPSI) through the resources of the globally-recognized leading scientific school in the Russian Federation, under the guidance of a distinguished member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Samara University President Viktor Soifer.
The program is geared towards the training of specialists for the development and application of cutting-edge mathematical methods, software, processing systems and technologies for the processing, recognition and intelligent analysis of images.
Students gain intensive mathematical preparation in the area of image processing and an array of the professional competencies required for the development of problem-oriented software.
Features (advantages) of the programme
The master’s degree program has been developed with a view to the interests of domestic and foreign employers on the basis of the standards espoused by the international initiative CDIO (Conceive – Design – Implement – Operate).
CDIO principles assume the creation of an innovative educational environment for the training of next-generation engineers and the fostering among graduates of the skills involved in the team-based implementation of interdisciplinary projects.
Alongside traditional studies (as part of a group), individual training is conducted for graduate students under the guidance of highly-qualified instructors - doctors and candidates of science.
An important element of the program is the teaching of core disciplines and working with study materials in the English language.
The learning process makes broad use of cutting-edge educational technologies. These include electronic study management, distance courses, etc.
The study process actively incorporates the use of the state-of-the-art IT infrastructure at Samara University’s disposal: the Sergey Korolev supercomputer, a hardware-software suite for the processing, analysis and storage of Big Data, and an impressive array of multimedia equipment.
Core laboratory classes are held at the facilities of RAS IPSI and encompass the use of unique equipment.
The most successful graduate students can earn sponsored and advanced academic scholarships, as well as grants for scientific research.
Academic programme structure (curriculum features)
The study plan for the master’s degree program contains a cycle of mathematical and informational-technological disciplines. This allows students to easily adapt to rapidly-changing trends in the development of information technologies, including in the field of application-software development.
The professional training program consists of several groups of disciplines.
Image analysis and recognition:
Future profession
Program graduates are geared towards working at companies and organizations engaged in the development of applied and system software, as well as towards research work using cutting-edge IT systems and technologies, mathematical methods and models.
The program provides high-quality and well-rounded preparation and fosters the competencies required for working in positions such as IT-project (program, area) manager, lead analyst, specialist in enterprise-management IT systems, applied-software consultant, programmer, system administrator, database administrator, network administrator, and many more.
Program graduates also have the opportunity to continue their independent scientific-research work at the graduate school of Samara University.
