Samara University Confirmed Its Position in the Times Higher Education Subject Rankings in Physics

On Tuesday, November 19, a new international subject ranking in the direction of Physical Sciences, which is annually compiled by the British edition of Times Higher Education (THE), was published. Among 1,054 universities of the world Samara National Research University is located in the group of universities that share positions from 601 to 800. In addition to the subject ranking in Physical Sciences, Times Higher Education experts presented the results in three other areas: Life Sciences; Psychology; Clinical, Pre-Clinical and Health subjects. In 2019, the subject ranking in the direction of Physical Sciences included 33 Russian universities. In addition to the universities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, 19 regional universities from 15 regions of Russia are included into the ranking. Along with Samara University, 9 Russian universities (among which are Bauman Moscow State Technical University, RUDN University, Saint-Petersburg Electrotechnical University "LETI") were included into a group of 601-800.

When compiling subject rankings, Times Higher Education uses the same 13 performance indicators as in the global ranking. These indicators fall into five broad categories: teaching (learning environment); research (volume, income and reputation); citations (research influence); international outlook (staff, students and research); and industry income (knowledge transfer).
