Samara University will expand cooperation with Nicaragua in the field of education

On May 6, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua Alba Azucena Torres Mejia paid a working visit to Samara University.

During the working meeting with Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of the University, issues related to implementation of projects aimed at developing bilateral ties in education were discussed. Both parties expressed their wish to expand cooperation fields.
“Our countries are located on different continents, this creates certain difficulties, but modern technologies allow us to teach and learn, and interact remotely. Such conditions are available at E.M. Primakov Regional Center for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations, which is equipped with multimedia system”, Vladimir Bogatyrev noted.
“I really like Samara University. We have prospects for working together, and when there is good will, we are bound to be successful”, the Ambassador said.
The Rector gave the guest sight of E.M. Primakov Regional Center for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations, where international events are held, and students have the opportunity to directly ask questions to diplomats and representatives of different countries. Alba Azucena Torres Mejia left a memorable entry in the book of the Primakov Center, then, during the lecture, she warmly communicated with students of various fields of training.
The Ambassador told the young people about the economic situation and the political structure of Nicaragua, touched upon important milestones in the history of the country’s development. Alba Azucena Torres Mejia paid special attention to the education system in Nicaragua.
The young people asked the Ambassador how relations between the countries developed at the present stage. “Our political course has always been plain and clear: we have always supported your country and will always be with Russia. Historically, Nicaragua has been and remains a great friend and partner of Russia. Now, between our countries, new prospects for cooperation open, which is very important. Educational programs for student exchange will become relevant”, the Ambassador replied.
During the conversation with young people, Alba Azucena Torres Mejia told them that he had learnt Russian specially for reading classical Russian literature, Aleksandr Pushkin’s works in the original language. 
“I was very glad to talk to you”, the Ambassador addressed the students at the end of the lecture. “I invite you to Nicaragua: our country’s people are distinguished by their cordiality and hospitality”.
