On September 06, at the Forum “Vector of Samara Science”, agreements on cooperation between the Samara National Research University and two capital enterprises – “VKO Aviatech” and “S.I.T.” (“Soyuzinfotech”) – were signed.

The signing ceremony was held in presence of the Governor of the Samara Region Dmitry Azarov. It was participated by Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University, Aleksandr Popov, a representative of the company “VKO Aviatech”, and Aleksandr Kochurov, a representative of the company “S.I.T.”.

“Areas of cooperation set by both agreements fully correlate with major areas of development of Samara University, interests and competencies of its scientific schools to have been developing at the University for decades. These areas correlate well with the University's Development Strategy, as well as with the Priority 2030 Program and the Advanced Engineering Schools Federal Project”, Vladimir Bogatyrev told the participants of the meeting of the Council of Rectors of the Volga Federal District, in course of which the agreements were signed.

In particular, “VKO Aviatech” is part of the group of companies servicing Moscow Vnukovo Airport. It has certificates for maintaining aircrafts manufactured by Boeing and Airbus, as well as the Russian Sukhoi Superjet aircraft. According to Vladimir Bogatyrev, Samara University, together with the company, will develop technologies for maintaining and repairing aircrafts. He emphasized that today, in conditions of sanctions, such developments are extremely relevant.

“Our company has focused its efforts on maintenance and repair of aviation equipment and its components made in Russia and abroad. Today, our list includes about three hundred serviced components, and some of them have never been serviced in Russia before. We see that for successful development we need competencies of Samara University in terms of developing, designing and manufacturing stands for testing and maintaining aircraft components. We are well aware of what the university is doing, and hope for fruitful cooperation”, stated Aleksandr Popov.

According to him, this is the first agreement to be concluded by “VKO Aviatech” with a higher education institution.

“Soyuzinfotech” is a software developer in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, geolocation, analytics and data collection, video conferencing systems, monitoring, processing and a number of other systems, as well as a distributor of Russian software and equipment manufacturers.

“In development of the signed document, the license agreement for applying the software developed by Samara University for training pilots for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) will be included. In future, a second agreement will be concluded, to improve this software for various types of drones”, Vladimir Bogatyrev said.

The rector of Samara University stressed that this topic is also extremely relevant for the country and for our region. He recalled that the Governor and his team managed to attract a large investor to the Samara Region, which would organize there the production of unmanned aerial vehicles. Vladimir Bogatyrev thanked Dmitry Azarov for organizational and financial support of projects implemented by the University.
