On Tuesday, October 17, in E. M. Primakov Regional Centre for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations, the opening of the All-Russian Forum “International Integration and Career in Russia” took place.

The Forum is organized by Samara National Research University together with the Russian Society “Znanie”.
The Forum is participated by executive authorities, business, public organizations, educational communities, as well as foreign and Russian students. This composition makes it possible to synchronize views of different structures on issues of creating comfortable environment for foreign students to learn in Russian universities, with subsequent employment of the most talented of them.

The Forum was opened by the University’s rector, Head of the regional branch of the Russian Society “Znanie” Vladimir Bogatyrev, “The theme of the Forum is extremely important, for the number of foreign students increases annually both in the country and in the Samara Region, as well as at our University. Moreover, this trend is characteristic not only for Russia. Students increasingly move to other cities and countries, for the purpose of getting quality education. So, at Samara University, the number of international students has grown approximately fivefold in ten years. In course of training, issues related to such students’ adaptation to our country’s cultural environment, as well as their further employment, arise. So this Forum is important for foreign students, the University, and society”.

Dmitry Travkin, Head of the Directorate for Development of Educational Activities in the Volga Federal District of the Russian Society “Znanie”, stressed in his speech that educational work in the Samara Region has reached a new level, “This year, at the end of June, the regional branch of the Russian Society “Znanie” in the Samara Region has been rebooted. The Society’s tasks are under special attention of the Governor Dmitry Igorevich Azarov, who has headed the Supervisory Board of the regional branch. The Samara regional branch of the Russian Society “Znanie”, headed by Vladimir Bogatyrev, proactively develops, participates in regional and federal projects, significantly contributes to promoting education at the entire Volga Federal District. Thousands of educational events are held: scientific battles, contests, quizzes, performances of outstanding people from the field of history, culture, science are organized, films are made. We help lecturers to be heard and find their audience. Today, the Russian Society “Znanie” unites all those people, who care about education, development, and reliable knowledge”.

The Forum participants were also welcomed by Deputy Director of the Institute of China and Central Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences Yury Kulintsev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Senator from the Samara Region Farit Mukhametshin.

Federal Inspector for the Samara Region Marat Yuryev welcomed the Forum participants on behalf of Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Volga Federal District Igor Komarov. And Vice Rector for Extracurricular Activities Mikhail Leonov read out the welcome address from the grandson of the famous politician and the Head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov, “Over a thousand students from 69 countries of the world study at Samara National Research University. Together with Russian students, they create multicultural environment that requires special attention. I am glad that the University’s management and teaching staff think about ways of adapting the students from all over the world to new for them conditions, and make their interaction the most comfortable. It is important not to leave the boys and girls during the entire training period, integrate them not just into the society, but also into the system of labour and economic relations, determine the trajectory of their professional development. These are issues for the Forum to answer”.

The forum will last two days. Activities include round tables and lectures. During the second day, the art site for foreign students will be organized, for summing up results of the competition “A Foreigner in Russia”.

So, Oksana Amelkina, Head of the Volunteer Area “DobroVo” of the PNRPU Youth League of Students, shared the experience of volunteer activity of foreign students of Perm Polytechnic University in adaptation to labour activities at different stages of training. Farkhod Gofur Ugli Erkinov, Head of the Career Development and Youth Entrepreneurship Centre of the North Caucasus Federal University, will present the project “Career School of Foreign Students at the North Caucasus Federal District”.

Here one will also be able to get advice from employees of the Employment and Career Department, and promptly fill out their CVs. 13 companies are invited to the Festival, among them: Russian Federal Nuclear Centre – All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics, Satellite innovative Space Systems, OKB Aerospace Systems, VTB Bank, Pharmperspektiva, Samara Tank Plant, Instrument Bearing Plant, Polad, Request-Samara LLC, First Tower Company, SMS-Information Technology.

Yeset Zhumabayev, a student from Kazakhstan, has been studying international relations for the third year, “I’ve come to Samara University, since, to my mind, Russia has fairly high-quality education. I would like to build my career, perhaps, in Russia”. Yeset wants to know how a foreign student can enroll in a master’s degree, what are the options for obtaining residence permit and citizenship, how to get a job in a government agency.

Note:

Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University,

“Internationalization is one of the leading themes for many Russian universities. Now only at Samara University, there are about a thousand students from 69 countries! Foreign students understand that getting education in the regions is more profitable than in the capital. They choose us, because they are sure that the scientific schools behind the brand of the city of Samara and Samara University – primarily in the field of aerospace technologies – will allow them to easily build a career not only in their homeland, but also in any country. The University’s economic, philological and law faculties are increasingly popular among foreigners.
Applicants know that they will be taught by leading scientists engaged in real scientific research. Knowledge and skills transferred in framework of traditional scientific schools are complemented by modern competencies.
The University’s research teams are involved in the processes of internationalization. For this, all necessary conditions are created: leading foreign scientists are invited, more and more English-language educational programs in various areas of training appear”.

Dmitry Travkin, Head of the Directorate for Development of Educational Activities in the Volga Federal District of the Society “Znanie”,

“This Forum is an excellent example of co-creation and collaboration of Samara University and the Samara regional branch of the Russian Society “Znanie”. In the modern world, one of the most important aspects of the society’s development education and socialization of young people. The further path of a person, their career, success depend on their education. Herewith, a specialist’s professional knowledge and competences are related to development of the region and the country as a whole. Today, studying abroad is a trend. And at present, due to growth in the number of foreign students, the role of cross-cultural competence of young people, adaptation of students to a new life, integration into the system of labour, social, economic relations, building trajectories of their professional growth increase. The Samara regional branch of the Society participates in educational projects at the regional level, contributes to development of educational activities of the entire Volga Federal District. The Russian Society “Znanie” currently unites all those people, who care about education, development, and reliable knowledge”.
