University Teachers Are Among the Winners of the Potanin Grant Competition

The Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation summed up results of the grant competition for teachers for 2023/2024. This time, the competition experts focused on redesigning courses, master’s programs, teaching methods and technologies developed earlier both with the Foundation’s support and by universities independently.

1,197 applied for participating in the competition. There were 570 applications from 69 universities, of which 551 applications were admitted to the expert assessment. The list of the competition winners includes representatives of 59 universities. Two universities are leaders in terms of the number of applications submitted: St. Petersburg State University and Ural Federal University named after the first President of Russia B. N. Yeltsin. Seven representatives of each of these universities won the competition.

In total, 150 teachers became laureates, and five more were included in the reserve list. Winners of the grant competition for teachers in the Master’s programs will receive the grant of up to 500 thousand rubles. The project implementation period will be 12 months.

“The grant competition results proved that in the university medium, the request for redesign of educational products has already been formed. We wish all the winners of the competition good luck in implementing their professional plans!” said Oksana Oracheva, CEO of the Potanin Foundation.

Two teachers of Samara University are among the laureates; one more teacher is included in the reserve list.

Elena Lityagina, Associate Professor at the Department of Developmental Psychology, has been enrolled in the list of winners with her project “Redesign of the Educational Program “Psychology of Life Quality”. Aleksander Nesterov, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, Head of the Department of Philosophy, presented his project “Development of the Online Part of the Multi-Level Course “Basics of Semiotics” Within Solving the Problem of Digitalization of the Master’s Degree Program Complex “Philosophy of Cybernetics”.

The reserve list of the competition includes the project “Redesign of the Master’s Program “Sociology of Politics and Public Administration” by Olga Tolpygina, Associate Professor at the Department of Sociology of Political and Regional Processes.

Natalia Samykina, Dean of the Faculty of Psychology, was the winner of the grant competition of the Vladimir Potanin scholarship program for teachers of the Master’s Degree Programs for 2022/2023. Commenting on the results of the 2023/2024 competitive selection, she noted: “The Potanin Foundation Grant Competition excellently motivates teachers to rethink their discipline, find new options for developing the subject area, and update the bank of educational technologies. The Potanin Foundation’s attention to the disciplines of Social Sciences and Humanities proves their relevance and importance for education and for society as a whole; this is recognition of relevance of the projects offered by the teachers of our University”.

The Foundation has been supporting university teachers since 2001. In the ordinary format, the grant competition of the Vladimir Potanin Scholarship Program was opened in the 2013/2014 season. Over 10 years, more than 800 people have become its winners, the total sum of funding amounted to over 450 million rubles.
