In Samara, at the site of Samara University, the IX All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum "Science of the Future - Science of the Young" has started. More than 500 students, postgraduates, scientists and representatives of the business environment and industry take part in it.
For 4 days, from October 29 to November 1, the forum will bring together Russian and foreign researchers, leading scientists – winners of the mega-grant program, heads of world scientific schools and laboratories, as well as talented young people from Russian universities and scientific organizations, students and postgraduates, finalists of the All-Russian Research Competition.
The participants of the scientific forum were welcomed Tatyana Gracheva, Head of the Department of the Office of the President of Russia for Scientific and Educational Policy, Anton Shashkin, Director of the Department of State Policy in Scientific and Technological Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Svetlana Ilyina, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the Samara Provincial Duma, Viktor Soyfer, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, President of Samara University, Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University, Evgeny Shakhmatov, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Scientific Director of Samara University.
At the opening ceremony, Tatyana Gracheva voiced a parting message of Andrey Fursenko, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, to the participants: "On my own behalf and on behalf of the Presidential Administration, I welcome all participants of the forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young". It has been held since 2014 in various regions of the country. The uniqueness of this forum is that world-renowned scientists, students, and young researchers gather on the same site. This is one of the brightest and most useful events for young people, I am sure that you will spend the days of the forum with great benefit and communicate with the leaders of the modern scientific world."
Anton Shashkin, Director of the Department of State Policy in Scientific and Technological Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, conveyed an address to the forum participants from Valery Falkov, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation. The head of the Ministry noted that the task of the forum is to give the younger generation of scientists an incentive to develop, an incentive to become part of a large scientific process, to work towards achieving goals that can be proud of. The Minister's address also emphasized the task of developing the mega-grant program, which is a program of international cooperation between Russian universities and scientific organizations with world-class scientists who have a serious impact on a new generation of Russian researchers.
It should be noted that major Russian and foreign scientists are taking part in the forum in Samara, among them Honorary Professor of Immunology at the University of Bologna Franceschi Claudio, named professor of the Department of Physiology at the Southwestern Medical Center of the University of Texas Ilya Bezprozvanny, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology School of Medicine Evgeny Rogaev, and other prominent figures of science. "The results of domestic scientific research are highly appreciated on the international market and are part of the world scientific heritage. The forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young" makes a great contribution to the popularization and development of science," Valery Falkov said in his address.
Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Viktor Soyfer, welcoming the participants, noted that the uniqueness of the forum, first of all, lied in its interdisciplinarity, and therefore in stimulating the emergence of new scientific directions at the junction of different fields of knowledge.
Rector Vladimir Bogatyrev also stressed the importance of the forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young" for the region and the university. "It is a great honor for us to welcome the forum on Samara land, within the walls of the Samara National Research University . The forum acts as a platform for exchanging opinions, for searching for new ideas, further ways of developing science, for discussing the interaction of different fields of sciences – biology and engineering, photonics, IT and big data, artificial intelligence and the humanities," the rector noted. He added that the task of attracting young people to science is very important, and the state provides comprehensive support: it holds federal competitions to open youth laboratories, create advanced engineering schools, implements the Priority 2030 program, and the Science and Universities national project.
In the coming days of the forum, participants will discuss topical issues of social and humanitarian sciences, ecology, life and earth sciences, information technology, engineering, physics, chemistry and new materials. The All-Russian competition of research papers of students and postgraduates, which was held on the eve of the forum, was built on these thematic tracks. This year, over 3,000 people from 450 Russian scientific organizations and universities took part in the competition, of which 350 participants reached the final and will present their reports at the forum "Science of the Future – Science of the Young".
One of the important events of the forum will be the discussion of tools and measures for grant support for young researchers – new programs to attract young people to science will be announced at a round table with representatives of the Innovation Promotion Fund, the Russian Science Foundation and regional departments.
