Samara University Expands Cooperation with China

Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of the University, and Anton Gulbis, Head of the International Cooperation Department, held talks with the leadership of five universities of the People's Republic of China during a working visit to China.

The result of the working meeting at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) was an agreement on the development and implementation of new English-language programs for "double" bachelor's degrees in aerospace fields. "The Chinese side has declared its readiness to allocate free places for studying at BIT for Russian students,” said Vladimir Bogatyrev.

Samara University will also continue to implement joint network programs with Northwestern Polytechnic University (Xi'an). "In Xi'an, we discussed the possibilities of internships and graduate work protection for Chinese students in Russia and signed an agreement to continue implementing joint network programs for groups of Chinese students. There we also inspected the activities of the joint laboratory for space cable systems, which has been operating in Xi'an for several years and has successfully entered industrial orders," said the rector.

During the working visit, the university administration visited Shandong Province. As a result, the University of Aeronautics (Binzhou) and the University of Aerospace Information Technology (Jinan) became new partners in the province. The parties discussed the demand for short-term programs among Chinese students in the format of summer schools on the history of space exploration and on the technical operation of aircraft. The Chinese side proposed to publish a joint encyclopedia on cosmonautics, as well as to organize joint laboratories within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" program.

During the participation of the delegation in the events of the international symposium "New Horizons and Vision in a New Era: Sino-Russian cooperation in higher education" in Shenyang, a cooperation agreement was signed between Samara University and Shenyang Polytechnic University. Vladimir Bogatyrev also made a presentation on the development of Russian engineering education to the leadership of Chinese and Russian universities.

The Rector got to know about the work of technical laboratories created in the interests of such major industrial partners as Huawei and Kuka. Our delegation was particularly interested in the innovative kindergarten that exists on the basis of Shenyang Polytechnic University to conduct research in the field of pre-school education pedagogy.
