Starting from 2024, December 1 has been declared the All-Russian Day of Mathematician. It was established by the order of the Ministry of Education of Russia – on the birthday of the outstanding Russian scientist Nikolay Ivanovich Lobachevsky.
Team of lecturers and students of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics proposed a new tradition on this day – to hold family mathematics Olympiad. For this purpose the Faculty announces team competitions among school-aged children and their parents, grandmothers and grandfathers.
Family Olympiad is the reason for adults to remember mathematics lessons, for schoolchildren – to demonstrate their knowledge, and for the whole family – to spend interesting and cognitive time together.
Last Sunday, interest in mathematics united people of different ages at the site of Samara University. The teams were divided into three groups in accordance with the age of child in the team: 1–4 grades, 5–9 grades and 10–11 grades.
More than 300 people and 100 teams took part in the Olympiad. On the whole, the teams were represented by primary students. More than a third of them solved all the problems correctly.
The winners were determined in each age group and were awarded by diplomas. The results of the Olympiad may be obtained at the link.
Everyone who has any questions regarding solving the problems is invited to the Open Day of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, which will take place on December, 15 at 10:00 at the address: ul. Akademika Pavlova, 1.
