The Department of General and Theoretical Physics participates in the NICA International Megascience Project

05.02.2025 1970-01-01

At the end of December 2024, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research presented the first issue of the peer-reviewed scientific journal “Natural Science Review”. The published articles cover the wide range of scientific themes of the multidisciplinary thematic profile of the journal, in particular, Accelerator Physics, High-Energy Physics, Theoretical Physics and Life Sciences.

On December 28, 2024, the first issue of the journal with seven scientific papers was published. The publication “Technical Design Report of the Spin Physics Detectorat NICA” of the technical project of the SPD NICA experiment is dedicated to installing the universal detector at the second interaction point of the NICA collider, which is currently under construction, intended for studying the spin structure of proton and deuteron. The co-authors of the article are employees of the scientific group of Samara University’s Department of General and Theoretical Physics, which participate in the work of the SPD NICA International Collaboration: Professor V.A. Saleev, Head of the Department, Associate Professor A.V. Shipilova, Associate Professor A.V. Karpishkov, L.E. Alimov and K.K. Shilyaev, postgraduate students of the Department, S.D. Morozova, a master’s degree student of the Department, as well as A.V. Baskakov, Head of the University’s Telecommunication Centre.

Samara physicists are involved in modeling the processes of particle generation in rigid interactions in proton-proton collisions at the SPD NICA experiment, in modeling performance of track detectors and creating the GRID SPD NICA distributed information environment.

This article is only one of 8 scientific papers published by the staff of the scientific group of the Department of General and Theoretical Physics within the themes of the SPD NICA project in 2024. They include the article by Professor V.A. Saleev “Challenges and Problems in Charmonium Production at the SPD NICA”, Physics of Particles and Nuclei 55, No. 6, 1460–1466 (2024); the article by A.V. Karpishkov, V.A. Saleev and the postgraduate K.K. Shilyaev “Production of Polarized J/psi Mesons within Nonrelativistic QCD and Generalized Parton Model”', Physics of Atomic Nuclei. 87, No. 4, 494–497 (2024); the article by A.V. Shipilova and the master’s degree student S.D. Morozova “The Simulation of Interactions in the Straw-Based SPD Track Detector and Primary Vertex Reconstruction”, Physics of Particles and Nuclei. Letters 21, No. 4, 727–730 (2024).
