Shakespeare Days 2025 at Samara University: Immersion in the Great Playwright’s World

On March 18 and 19, 2025, Samara University once again became the venue for Shakespeare Days, a cultural event dedicated to William Shakespeare’s life and work. This event to be organized by the Department of Foreign Languages and Russian as a Foreign Language has already become a favorite tradition not only for Samara University’s students. Schoolchildren and students from other universities from our city proactively take part in it.

Shakespeare Days at Samara University is a great opportunity for students and theater lovers not only to expand their understanding of Shakespearean drama, its influence on literature and art, to participate in interactive events, but also to improve their knowledge of English, as Shakespeare Days are traditionally held in the great playwright’s language.

On the first day of the festival, the participants presented their papers on various educational themes in the field of literature and drama, as well as on technical ones. Day 2 was devoted to creative performances: the children sang, read poetry, showed theatrical performances, and played musical instruments. Then there was an entertaining intellectual quiz, in which the participants competed in erudition, quickness of reaction, and decision-making skills.

The favorable and friendly atmosphere of the festival was created by its permanent presenter, founder and inspirer Prokhor Petrovich Almurzin.

Shakespeare Days at Samara University is not only an opportunity for getting acquainted with classical literature, but also a chance for immersing yourself in the atmosphere of creativity, inspiration and communication in English.
