The Chemistry of Bonds: From Molecule to Solving Global Problems

A lecturer and a student of Samara University took part in the 7th International Conference "Advances in Synthesis and Complexing," which was held at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia (RUDN University) in Moscow. The event was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of RUDN University.

A special emphasis at the conference was placed on the pharmaceutical chemistry of complex compounds. Scientists presented the latest developments in the creation of coordination compounds, including promising radiopharmaceutical complexes for the diagnosis and therapy of oncological diseases. Particular attention was paid to the synthesis of new medicinal compounds, improving bioavailability, and creating "smart" complex compounds with controlled release of active pharmaceutical substances.

Samara University was represented at the conference by:

·         Yulia G. Kuraeva, Candidate of Chemical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Chemistry and Chromatography, who delivered an oral presentation on "Investigation of Complexation of Volatile Organic Compounds with Cyclodextrins in Isotropic and Anisotropic Media by Reversed-Gas Chromatography";

·         Sofia A. Tolkacheva, a 3rd-year undergraduate student of the Faculty of Chemistry, who presented the results of her research in the format of a poster presentation "Complexation of Synthetic Medicinal Compounds with Macrocycles in Aqueous Solutions".

It was incredibly inspiring to be among like-minded scientists from all over the world who are passionate about their research! The lively discussions, exchange of ideas, and advice from leading specialists gave a powerful impetus for further work.

Such events show that we are moving in the right direction and our developments can truly change the future of pharmaceuticals. Ahead lie new research and exciting discoveries!
