The educational intensive course was held on November 5–7. Under the guidance of their mentors, 55 schoolchildren of Grades 9–11 solved topical problems in the following areas: experimental rocket engineering and spacecraft engineering.
During the educational modules, the participating children discussed Samara University’s small-sized spacecrafts from “AIST-1” to “AIST-ST”, developed the design of a small-sized spacecraft, calculated the strength of the satellite, and determined the main specifications of its payload. At the end of the master class, under the guidance of mentors from the Design Bureau “RocketLAV”, the schoolchildren manufactured their first training rocket model.
The intensive-course participants also visited Samara University’s laboratories and museums: the Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, the Aircraft Engine History Center, the Mission Control Centre, the Design Bureau “RocketLAV”.
The educational intensive course resulted in ready projects to be demonstrated by the participants to experienced specialists. The victory was won by the team “Sozvezdie”: Liana Karipova, Ksenia Kolinichenko, Vladislav Pavlov, Aleksander Dutov, Norik Dallakyan – the area “Spacecraft Engineering”. And the team “Memo”: Matvey Gaikin, Aleksey Likhuto, Artem Andreev, Viktor Medvedev, Vladislav Peshkov – the area “Experimental Rocket Engineering”.
This year, schools from Samara and the Samara Region took part in the Korolev School:
· Hero of the Soviet Union V.P. Lezin School No. 68;
· Educational Centre “Southern City”.
· Samara International Aerospace Lyceum;
· Samara Medical and Technical Lyceum.
For schoolchildren, participating in the Korolev School is more than just a new learning experience. The project provides an opportunity for the young people to immerse themselves in real research, get to know scientists and engineers, and work with space technologies.
