The dissertation committee awarding the degree of a candidate of science (the first level of doctoral degree) was first set up at Kuibyshev Aviation Institute in 1962 by the written order of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Vocational Education of the USSR. Since 2002 seven dissertation committees have been appointed and re-appointed in SSAU (the * sign indicates the specialties that have dissertation committees).
