The project of Samara University’s Primakov Centre to organize the scientific and educational forum "Russia and France: A Dialogue of (Visual) Cultures" has received support from the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

The project is dedicated to researching and promoting the rich heritage of Russian-French cultural exchange. The forum aims to discuss various aspects of cultural interaction between Russia and France, particularly during their period of most intense political and cultural cooperation at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. Primary focus will be given to the sphere of visual culture and historical memory. Researchers emphasize that cultural dialogue remains a defining factor both in shaping a country’s image and in transforming relations between nations—transitioning from alienation to interest, and from isolation to cooperation.

Experts from the Russkiy Mir Foundation evaluated the application prepared by teams from Samara University and the Russian House of Culture and Science in Paris (Rossotrudnichestvo).

The forum "Russia and France: A Dialogue of (Visual) Cultures" will take place in late August. Its events will include a conference, a series of art history seminars, and a telebridge with the Russian House of Culture and Science in Paris.
