At the Department of Thermal Engineering and Thermal Engines, students of Samara National Research University’s Institute of Engine and Power Plant Engineering (IEPPE) defended their final qualifying papers. They studied in the Specialty “Refrigerating and Cryogenic Equipment” in the Area “Energy Engineering”. Natalia Tretyakova, Director for Personnel and Organizational Development at “Cryogenmash” JSC, participated in the work of the State Examination Commission as a co-chairperson.

This is the first regional graduation of qualified specialists in low-temperature thermal engineering and energy, cryogenic and refrigerating equipment, air conditioning systems, who know modern technologies for solving engineering and scientific problems. The graduates’ professional activities are related to the application of low temperatures and refrigeration, the production, storage and transportation of cryogenic substances, as well as the creation of artificial climate and the use of renewable energy sources. The graduates are focused on production and technological activities in the field of cryogenic and refrigerating equipment, as well as in air conditioning systems.

The Commission distinguished the graduation papers of the following students:

·         “Assessment of the effect of the wall thickness of a cryogenic refueling cylinder on its operating parameters” by Polina Arestova;

·         “Assessment of the effect of operating parameters of a cryogenic refueling cylinder on the stress state of its walls” by Anna Basharova;

·         “Development of the cryogenic energy accumulator operating under the Kapitsa cycle at the charging stage, with secondary cold accumulation” by Ekaterina Biteryakova;

·         “Development of the cryogenic energy accumulator operating under the Geylandt cycle at the charging stage, with a power facility based on the cascade of expansion turbines” by Vasily Kazandaev;

·         “Low-tonnage LNG production optimization project” by Ilya Ovchinnikov;

·         “Development of the cryogenic energy accumulator operating under the Claude cycle at the charging stage, with a power facility based on thermoelectric generators” by Ivan Pavlikhin.

Having successfully completed the Bachelor’s Degree educational program, all the students will continue their studies at the IEPPE Master’s Degree joint educational program “Modern Energy and Refrigeration Generation Systems”, developed by “Cryogenmash” JSC and Samara University. Polina Arestova and Anna Basharova will become targeted-training students at this master’s program.

For reference:

In June 2025, the official opening of the Samara Branch of “Cryogenmash” JSC took place, which was attended by employees of the Laboratory of Cryogenic Technology of Samara University’s Research and Education Centre for Gas Dynamics Studies. Since 2024, friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation has been intensively developing between the Laboratory of Cryogenic Technology of the Research and Education Centre for Gas Dynamics Studies (REC GDS-209) and “Cryogenmash” JSC in the field of developing and designing new samples of cryogenic systems and complexes. The opening of the Samara Branch of “Cryogenmash” JSC will make it possible to reach a new level at developing joint engineering projects and solving modern research tasks.

From June 30 to July 17, in Balashikha, students undergo the technological traineeship under the guidance of Mikhail Mukhin, Head of the Chief Designer’s Office at “Cryogenmash” JSC. This traineeship will become the basis for students to create final qualifying papers, as well as start working in one of the leading machine-building enterprises related to the production of aerospace engineering.

“Cryogenmash” JSC is the largest in Russia company for manufacturing technologies and equipment for air separation, for technical-gases supply and the development of integrated solutions in the field of LNG. About 70% of the annual production of industrial gases in Russia is made by using equipment manufactured by “Cryogenmash” JSC.
