On October 1, the opening ceremony of the 45th International Seminar of A.G. Mordkovich on Mathematical and Information Education (ISMIEM 2026) was held. Running from October 1 to 3, the conference is dedicated to the digital transformation of education, focusing on preserving educational traditions while exploring new opportunities in teaching mathematics and computer science. The event has brought together faculty members, postgraduate students, researchers, and specialists in mathematical and information education in a single collaborative space.
The primary goal of the conference is to provide a platform for scientific discourse and the presentation of research covering a broad spectrum of theoretical and applied issues. These range from teaching methodologies in mathematics and computer science and teacher training, to evaluating educational quality in the era of digital transformation.
The event is co-organized by Samara University, the Samara Branch of the Moscow City Pedagogical University, and the Samara State University of Social Sciences and Education.
"Today, information technology and artificial intelligence are rapidly transforming education, opening up new possibilities while presenting educators with complex challenges. Platforms like this seminar are therefore crucial: here, we do not merely share experiences; we build a community that thoughtfully leads these changes. After all, the future of our country rests on the shoulders of mathematicians and computer scientists.
"The 45th International Seminar of A.G. Mordkovich is a place where mathematical rigor meets pedagogical exploration, where young professionals can make their voices heard, and experienced educators can find new inspiration. It unites, inspires, and sets a developmental vector for years to come," noted Alexander Kupriyanov, Chairman of the Organizing Committee.
The conference has brought together over a hundred participants from various countries. The seminar's program is divided into five thematic sections, which will address the effects and risks of digitalizing mathematical education, its prospects and challenges, current issues in teaching mathematics and computer science at both university and school levels, teacher training in these disciplines, as well as historical and methodological issues in mathematics, computer science, and mathematical education.
The event will conclude with a round table discussion titled "Modern Mathematical Education: Goals, Challenges, and Prospects." The discussion will focus on the objectives of contemporary education, the humanistic aspects of modern mathematical education, and forecasting its future trajectory.
The conference is being held at Building 1 of Samara University, located at 151 Molodogvardeyskaya Street.
In addition to the academic program, guests visiting Samara will enjoy a rich cultural itinerary, including tours of the city's historical centers and regional landmarks.
