Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities was founded as an organization unit of Samara University in 2016.

This Institute includes Faculty of Philology and Journalism, Faculty of History, Faculty of Psychology, Faculty of Sociology, three inter-faculty departments, seven laboratories and the Volga-Urals Archeology and Ethnography Research and Educational Center.
