The meeting elected the chairman of SSAU Supervisory Board - Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin. Samara Region Governor Nikolay Merkushkin was elected Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the University.
The Council Members also took a number of decisions aimed at providing educational and scientific activities of SSAU at the first meeting.
"Challenges of the qualitative technological breakthrough, which are set today for the whole country, reflected in the first meeting of the Supervisory Board. Dmitry Rogozin, and the heads of the leading aerospace companies commissioned us to create such program for the further development of the Samara State Aerospace University, which will allow our university to become a reference centre for specialists training of the aviation industry and the space industry, on the one hand, and actively use the rich research capacity of SSAU on the other hand. The support provided by the members of the Supervisory Board had our university at the state level, opens up new opportunities and SSAU imposes the great responsibility on us that every employee of the University will have to understand and to feel,"- said University Rector Evgeniy Shakhmatov, praising the results of the first meeting of SSAU Supervisory Board.

It is to be recalled that by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation № 738 dated July 10, 2014 Samara State Aerospace University has been transformed from the budget university into the federal state autonomous higher education institution. In accordance with the legislation the Supervisory Board is one of the governing bodies of the autonomous university.
