China is Interested in Russian Innovations in the Field of Space and Aviation

The Consul General of Chinese Consulate-General in Kazan visited Samara University

On Friday, June 1, the delegation of the Consulate-General of the People's Republic of China in Kazan visited Samara University. Consul General Wu Yingqin, consul-attache Bian Xiaoqiang and consul Li Fei arrived in Samara.
The guests met Rector of Samara University Evgeniy Shakhmatov. The meeting was also attended by the First Vice-rector - Vice-Rector for Science and Innovations, Andrey Prokofiev, Vice-rector for Educational and Foreign Affairs Vladimir Bogatyrev, Head of International Office Sergey Tic, Director of the Institute of Aeronautical Engineering Valeriy Elenev.
Samara University has been cooperating with the universities, scientific organizations and enterprises of China since 1990. The interaction occurs in different directions: these are joint educational and exchange programmes, joint laboratories, summer schools, project “Volga-Yangtze” within the framework of IVolga Forum. Samara University is a member of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities. Its scientists apply for joint research grants from both Russian and Chinese scientific foundations and ministries.
"China is our reliable partner in implementing a variety of programmes, – said Yevgeniy Shakhmatov at the meeting, presenting the staff of the departments and research units of the university, who are carrying out joint activities with colleagues from the PRC. –  Our scientists work in the field of aerospace technologies, new materials. Samara University trains specialists in more than 300 educational programmes and I think it will be useful for the universities of two countries to expand the list of areas of cooperation. There are many points of growth for the development of further relations, for example, we have a strong school of academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) Victor Soyfer for processing images obtained from space".
Consul General Wu Yingqin stressed that Samara Region is known as the territory where strong automobile, aviation and space clusters are represented. China is focusing on innovation now, especially in the field of artificial intelligence.
"2018-2019 years are marked by the development of cooperation between Russian and Chinese regions, which opens up broad prospects for the creation of new technologies, –  said Mr. Wu Yingqin. – In China, more and more young people are studying the Russian language, literature, culture of Russia. Our businessmen come to Samara Region, and if local entrepreneurs are able to speak Chinese, these ties will become stronger and more productive".
Samara University scientists acquainted the guests with the directions of cooperation between the departments and institutes with Chinese universities. Professor of the Department of Space Engineering Vadim Salmin said that the agreement on the training of specialists in the direction “Spacecrafts” between Samara University and Harbin Institute of Technology was signed in 1991.
Since 2009, masters in the direction "Missile complexes and cosmonautics" have already been taught in Samara. Graduates of these programmes occupy leading positions in space industry enterprises of China. In addition, negotiations on joint developments in the field of satellite construction are being held with the scientists of Harbin Institute of Technology.
Head of the Institute of Space Instrument Engineering Konstantin Voronov told  the Chinese partners about the development of devices for studying the factors of space environment impact. Professor of the Department of Metal Forming Vladimir Gluschenkov noted that the technology of magnetic-pulse processing of metals is actively being implemented at Chinese industrial enterprises. During the visit the guests met with students from  Beijing Institute of Technology, who on June 1 were defending their bachelor qualification papers written at Samara University.
For 17 years about 100 Chinese specialists in the field  of aircraft building have been trained at the Department of Aircraft Construction and Design.
The guests also visited the Chinese Centre and Aerospace Museum of Samara University.

In 2017-2018 academic year, 58 students from China study at Samara University.
Samara University signed cooperation agreements with Beijing Institute of Technology, Beihang University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Harbin Institute of Technology, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Anhui University, Anhui Pedagogical University, Anhui University of Science and Technology, Xi’an International University, Xinyu University, Asia Pacific Institute of Science and Engineering, Shenzhen University, Wenzhou University and National Cheng Kung University Museum.
In February 2015,  Russian-Chinese laboratory "Space Rope Systems" (Northwestern Polytechnic University) was established.
In January 2016, Samara University and Beijing Institute of Spacecraft Environment Engineering (BISEE) concluded an agreement on the creation of a joint laboratory "Methods and Means of Space Research".
Students of Samara University and Chinese partner universities take part in internships on an annual basis both in the People's Republic of China and in Samara Region.
