On July 18-20, 2018 Samara National Research University named after academician S.P. Korolev will host two key scientific events in the field of mechanical engineering: International Conference "Dynamics and Vibroacoustics of Machines, DVM2018" and the  International Symposium of Young Scientists on the Hydraulic and Pneumatic Drive GFPS2018. More than two hundred recognized experts from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, China, France, Britain, the USA, Brazil and Russia will gather in Samara.
International Conference "Dynamics and Vibroacoustics of Machines, DVM2018" is devoted to theoretical and experimental developments in the field of machine dynamics, noise and vibration control, their applications for different systems, objects and industries.
It should be noted that the vibration and noise accompany the operation of any mechanisms and devices used in all areas of life: from computer equipment to aircrafts and spacecrafts. Even the most insignificant fluctuations have a serious impact on  the quality and reliability of the operation of both individual units and the entire system as a whole.
Modern systems of acoustic and vibration protection can extend the life of complex and expensive equipment by several times, as well as make its use more convenient and comfortable for people. In this regard, the demand for fundamental and applied researches in this field is increasing in modern high-tech industry.
The conference will discuss the ways of assessing vibration loads on various systems and noise produced by different units, machines. The field of application of research and development: mechanical engineering, aviation and rocket technology, military facilities, submarines, gas systems, energy-saving technologies and many others.
The  participants of GFPS2018 Symposium will focus on the opportunities and prospects for the development of systems with hydraulic and pneumatic drives. Solutions and developments to reduce noise and enhance the positional accuracy  will be considered. The main world trend of scientific research represents the ways of controlling hydrodrives in exoskeletons, hydraulics in energy-efficient solutions for aboveground and underground machines, and aviation systems.
These and other topics will be touched upon in the reports of  Russian and foreign experts, including world-renowned scientists: Professor of the University of Bath (Great Britain) Andrew Plummer; Professor of the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse (France) Jean-Charles Maré; Doctor of the Italian Institute of Technology (Genoa) Claudio Semini; Professor of Purdue University (West Lafayette, the USA) Andrea Vacca.
Professor Claudio Semini will talk about the additive manufacture of hydraulic control for four-legged robots, and Professor Jean-Charles Maré  will analyze recent achievements in the field of hydraulic drives for aerospace engineering. A separate session will be devoted to a renewable energy source. Among the achievements hydraulic heating system with a wind motor will be presented.

The Global Fluid Power Society (GFPS) was created in 2016 as a result of the merger of the European Association (FPCE — Network of Fluid Power Centres in Europe) and the Worldwide Network (FPNI — Fluid Power Net International). Assessing the level of competencies and achievements of the university in the World Scientific Community, this organization granted Samara University the honorable right to hold a regular symposium. This event will be the tenth in a series of symposiums held in different countries around the world on the basis of member universities (FPNI).

Professor Andrew Plummer — The University of Bath, Great Britain 
Andrew Plummer
Professor Andrew Plummer is a Director of the Centre for Power Transmission and Motion Control at the University of Bath. He has a variety of research interests in the field of motion and force control, including inverse-model based control of electrohydraulic servosystems, design and control of parallel kinematic mechanisms, hybrid hydraulic/piezoelectric actuation and active vehicle control.
He received his PhD degree from the University of Bath in 1991, for the research in the field of adaptive control of electrohydraulic systems. He worked as a research engineer in Rediffusion Simulation Ltd. (now Thales Training and Simulation Ltd.) since 1990, developing flight simulator motion systems before he took up a lecturing post at the Department of Control Systems and Mechatronics at the University of Leeds in 1994. From 1999 to 2006 he was global control systems R&D manager for Instron, manufacturers of materials and structural testing systems. 
Professor Plummer has chaired the IMechE Mechatronics, Informatics and Control Group, and the UK Automatic Control Council. He is a Chairman of Global Fluid Power Society and an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Fluid Power and Control Engineering Practice.
Professor Jean-Charles Maré  — National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse (France)  
Jean-Charles Mare
Jean-Charles Maré is a professor at the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse. In this institute he received a higher engineering education, after which he defended his doctoral thesis at the State University in Lyon, presenting the defense of a study of high-precision modeling and proactive regulation of electrohydraulic drives. He teaches discipline "Mechanical and Hydraulic Power Plants", focusing on the development of systems architecture, their modeling and calculation. He conducts research in the laboratory of Clément Ader Institute in Toulouse, where he organized a research group to work on embedded drive systems and their components. He specializes in preliminary design development, virtual prototyping and testing of safety-critical drives for aerospace systems. Since the beginning of the 2000s, he has participated in a variety of national and international research projects on the development of aerospace actuators.
He is a member of the SAE A-6 Regulation Committee, the author of the book "Aerospace Actuators" (3 volumes) and chairs International Conferences "Recent Advances in Aerospace Actuation Systems and Components" (R3ASC), the first of which was organized in 2001.
Doctor Claudio Semini — The Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Genoa.
Claudio Semini
Claudio Semini is the Head of the Dynamic Legged Systems Laboratory at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa. In 2005 he received a Master of Science degree in Information Technology and Electrical Engineering Specialization in Robotics at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. From 2004 to 2006, he was a visiting researcher at the Hirose and Fukushima laboratory of the Tokyo Institute of Technology and worked as a robotics engineer at Toshiba’s Research & Development Centre, Kawasaki, Japan. Working on his doctoral thesis at the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) from 2007 to 2010, he developed a hydraulic four-legged robot, HyQ, and worked out his control system. After completing the postdoc phase at the same department in 2012, he became the Head of the Dynamic Legged Systems Laboratory. Claudio Semini is the author and co-author of more than 75 peer-reviewed publications in international journals and conferences. He is also a co-founder of the Technical Committee on Mechanisms and Design of the IEEE-RAS Society. His research interests include the design and management of four-legged robots for field application and cross-country operations, hydraulic drives, and others.
Professor Andrea Vacca — Purdue University, West Lafayette, USA
Andrea Vacca
Andrea Vacca is a Professor at the Maha Fluid Power Research Center of Purdue University, with a joint appointment between the Purdue School of Mechanical Engineering and the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. Dr. Vacca earned his Ph.D. from the University of Florence (Italy) in 2005, presenting a thesis in the field of Gas Turbine Blade Cooling Technology. Before joining Purdue University in 2010, Prof. Vacca was Assistant Professor of Fluid Machinery at the University of Parma (Italy).
Fluid power technology has been Dr. Vacca's major research interest since 2002. Goals of his research are the improvement of energy efficiency and controllability of fluid power systems and the reduction of noise emissions of fluid power components.
To accomplish these goals, his research team has developed original numerical and experimental techniques for hydraulic systems and components, especially for gear machines and hydraulic control valves. Prof. Vacca's interests also include the modeling of the properties of hydraulic fluids, with focus to the effects of aeration and cavitation, as well as the use of low viscous fluids (such as water) in fluid power systems.
Dr. Vacca is the author of more than 90 papers, most of them published in international journals or conferences. He is also active in the fluid power research community. He is a faculty member of the Center for Compact and Efficient Fluid Power (CCEFP,USA), and he is a former chair of the SAE Fluid Power Division. Dr. Vacca is also Treasurer and Secretary of the Board of the Global Fluid Power Society (GFPS). Furthermore, he is an Executive member of the Fluid Power Systems and Technology Division (FPST) of ASME. He is also Associate Editor of the International Journal of Fluid Power and Guest Editor of the Special Issue of Energies "Energy Efficiency and Controllability of Fluid Power Systems".
