On October 13-17, 2025, the scientific school "Magnitogorsk Materials Week 2025" and the International Youth Conference on the Processing of Metals and Alloys by Pressure and Materials Science were held at Nosov Magnitogorsk State Technical University. The events gathered young scientists, postgraduates, and specialists from industrial enterprises.
A student from the Department of Metal Forming of the Institute of Aerospace Engineering at Samara University, Dmitry Fomichev, took part in the events. He presented a report titled "A method for producing tapered thin-walled parts from a solid conical workpiece" (Supervisor: Professor of the Metal Forming Department, E.G. Demyanenko).
The conference was dedicated to the latest developments and technologies for manufacturing specific products, results of testing new materials, new practices in obtaining ingots with unique chemical compositions, and other current issues. Special attention was paid to international cooperation. In their presentations and speeches, the conference participants actively shared experiences with colleagues and students, and discussed innovative technologies and research results in the field of metallurgy.
As part of the conference, master classes by leading experts in the field of process modeling were organized, as well as a tour to PJSC "Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works" (MMK), where the young scientists learned about the full production cycle of steel products – from pig iron production to the packaging of finished goods.
"Participating in the scientific conference was not only an opportunity for me to expand my theoretical knowledge but also to see one of the largest metallurgical enterprises not only in Russia but also in the world," Dmitry shared his impressions.
