The delegation of Samara University took an active part in the International Educational Exhibition “China Education Expo 2025” and in the specialized event “Day of Russian Universities in Beijing”. The delegation included Sergey Goriainov, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Head of the Contingent Formation and Support Office, and Ekaterina Kopshukova, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor at the Department of English Philology.

The participation purposed at presenting Samara University in the Chinese educational market, popularizing the scientific and educational potential of the Samara region and strengthening international relations, in order to attract international students.

The delegation’s busy work program consisted of a number of key events. The visit began on October 29 with taking part in the Exhibition “Day of Russian Universities in Beijing” organized by the Russian Cultural Centre. On this day, the University’s representatives attended a methodological seminar and a networking session with colleagues from Russian universities, where they actively discussed current trends in teaching Russian as a foreign language in China.

On October 30, the work at the Exhibition “Day of Russian Universities in Beijing” was continued. Sergey Borisovich Goriainov made his presentation of Samara University, and the delegation also got acquainted with the reports of representatives of other Russian universities and Chinese educational companies. The venue for exhibition activities and productive exchange of contacts was provided, which resulted in laying the groundwork for future cooperation agreements.

The highlight of the visit was the participation of Samara University’s delegation in the International Educational Exhibition “China Education Expo 2025”. This year, the Exhibition brought together 400 organizations from 38 countries. The National Pavilion of Russia, organized with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, has become one of the most visited. Its guests of honor were Liu Liming, President of the Chinese Association for International Educational Exchanges, T.B. Urzhumtseva, Director of the Russian Cultural Centre in Beijing, and I.A. Pozdnyakov, Adviser on Education to the Russian Embassy in China.

During the Exhibition, Sergey Borisovich Goriainov separately commented on the prospects for educational cooperation between Russia and China, noting the growing interest of Chinese applicants in studying at Russian universities, “We have carefully studied the information on the selection of foreign citizens to study in the Russian Federation in accordance with the quota set by the Government for the 2025/2026 academic year. It is obvious to us that Chinese applicants’ interest in obtaining high-quality higher education in Russia is steadily growing. Figures are a hard evidence of this: today, more than 50,000 Chinese students study at Russian universities, and about 20,000 Russian students study at Chinese universities.

The fact that the total number of participants in the educational exchange between our countries has already exceeded 70,000 people, and the ambitious goal has been set to reach 100,000 by 2030, has shown the dynamic development of bilateral relations. Participating in the Exhibition “China Education Expo” has become an important step for Samara University in popularizing not only our University, but also the entire Samara region as an attractive scientific and educational centre. We are confident that such direct interaction is the key to strengthening international relations and increasing the number of talented international students who choose Samara University for their studies”.

Taking part in “China Education Expo 2025” allowed Samara University to establish itself in one of the largest educational markets in the world, make direct contacts with Chinese partners and future applicants. It is significant that the University participates in this largest exhibition for the second year in a row. This consistent and systematic work confirms Samara University’s commitment to the strategy of internationalization and strengthening its position in the global educational space. Regular attendance at such an important event contributes to the growth of the University’s brand awareness in China and the formation of steady partnerships, which will ultimately facilitate a further increase in the number of international students at Samara University.
