28.11.2025 1970-01-01

In late November, two major annual scientific conferences on German studies with international participation were held in Kaluga and Moscow.

Kaluga State University named after K.E. Tsiolkovsky hosted the 23rd Congress and Conference of the Russian Union of Germanists (RUG) from November 20-23 on the topic "National German Studies in Historical and Sociocultural Realities." Presentations at this prestigious forum (with over 110 participants) were given by the Acting Head of the Department of German Philology, Doctor of Philology E.V. Bespalova, Professor S.I. Dubinin, Associate Professor Yu.A. Bakulina, as well as postgraduate student E.V. Gubatenko. E.V. Bespalova and S.I. Dubinin also chaired conference sections. All colleagues noted the high level of presentations and organization. For the first time at an RUG conference, a section on linguodidactics was held. An organizational outcome of the congress was the election of a new RUG President, D.A. Belyakov (MSLU), and the re-election of the presidium, which again included S.I. Dubinin. The event concluded with round tables on the topics: "The Work of A. Stifter" and "The Scientific Legacy of Professor N.N. Semenyuk (1925-2011)." An unforgettable impression remained from the lively communication with like-minded colleagues, the city of Kaluga, and the newly built modern university building where the events took place.

Moscow State Linguistic University (MSLU) held the 8th Scientific-Practical Conference "German Studies 2025: nove et nova" from November 26-28. Leading national specialists spoke at the plenary sessions: D.O. Dobrovolsky, V.I. Karasik, E.G. Belyaevskaya, I.V. Zykova, I.A. Guseynova, and others. At the sectional sessions, employees of the Department of German Philology presented the results of their research: E.V. Bespalova (round table "Current Issues in Grammar"), Yu.A. Bakulina (round table "Literary Text and Literary Discourse in the Paradigms of Interdisciplinary Knowledge"), and M.A. Goncharova (round table "Discursology at the Intersection of Analytical Approaches"). The conference demonstrated a high theoretical level and the relevance of the problems being developed. The event concluded with workshops on specific aspects of linguistics and linguodidactics.
