Young scientist wins All-Russian Science Slam in Tomsk

27.11.2025 1970-01-01

In November, news arrived about the victory of Polina Yakovleva, a master's student at the Institute of Aerospace Engineering. The young woman came first at the All-Russian Science Slam held in Tomsk.

Introducing herself to the audience, she stated: "I dreamed of becoming a cosmonaut, but now I understand that exploring space is much more interesting."

Polina Yakovleva brought a real PocketQube format satellite to Siberia – she literally pulled it out of her pocket during her presentation (!) – and won over the slam audience with her story about the intricacies of creating an antenna, mounting it on board, and deployment methods. Everything worked for the win: the cats in the presentation, the satellite itself, the speaker's natural charm. And at the end, the audience also saw a sumo wrestler's greeting ritual performed by Polina, who practiced this sport for six years!

Let's watch the stream and rejoice for the young scientist from Samara University!
