International educational seminar on the study and modernization of aircraft engines has successfully concluded in Samara. The program brought together 19 students from China.
Students from Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an explored the intricacies of designing, manufacturing, and testing aircraft engines at Samara University. The culmination of this intensive program was the development and successful defense of engine modernization projects by the Chinese students.
The Chinese students also shared their impressions of their studies and the city of Samara, as the university organized a comprehensive cultural and excursion program for them. They enjoyed a guided city tour, visited the local Ethnographic Museum and the Volga Region Railway Museum, and took a trip to the Volga village of Shiryaev, where Ilya Repin painted his famous sketches for "Barge Haulers on the Volga".
Wang Sihao plans to enroll at the Samara university in 2027. "In Samara, I learned a great deal about the design of gas turbine engines. In the future, I want to become an engineer and create a new type of engine," he said. The young man also noted that he thoroughly enjoyed Russian cuisine, the Volga River, and the natural beauty of the Samara region.
Zhao Yixi is an aspiring propulsion engineer. "My expectations were fully met: we were introduced to a vast collection of aircraft and rocket engines. The knowledge I gained during the summer school will be invaluable for my career as an engine engineer," the Chinese student noted.
Wang Junjie had dreamed of experiencing Russian culture. "We visited the airfield, saw the aircraft up close, walked out onto the wing of a massive passenger airliner, and even sat at the controls in the pilot's seat. It was an unforgettable experience," said Wang Junjie. As for the cultural program, the young woman particularly highlighted a masterclass in painting traditional matryoshka dolls.
