Yacht Club «Aist»

 

The Yacht Club «Aist» is located on the Proran island on the Peschanoe Lake The University’s sailing section is based here.

Any student of the University can become a member of the Club.

18 masters of sports, 72 candidates for masters of sports have been trained in the sailing club.

Training

Classes are held all year round.

Winter period:
Tuesday and Thursday 18.30 - 20.00
the Sport complex, 29, Vrubel Str., Department#6.

Students take theory classes. In the gym and the swimming pool they train on the special simulators for sailing.

April - October, classes are held on weekends at the Yacht Club «Aist».

Events

The Sailing Section holds three competitions per year:
May - races in honor of Victory Day.
June - Yacht Club Cup.
August - Victor Lukachev Memorial Regatta (cruising race).
September - student stage of the regatta in memory of Viktor Lukachev.

History and Achievements

Sailing at Samara University was born in the 50s.

In 1972, Rector of the Institute, Lukachev Viktor Pavlovich, acquired a yacht class Dragon.

The development of sailing has begun. Yachts are being purchased, the number of students and teachers is increasing, and results are growing.

In 1976, the Department of Physical Education opened a Department of Sailing, headed by Mikhail Koltsov. The support is provided by Rector Lukachev V.P., Vice-rector of the Institute Chegodaev D.E.

In 1979, Viktor Pavlovich Lukachev decided to organize the KuAI Yacht Club. They chose the Proran island and the Green lake.

Construction of the Yacht Club has begun. Builders are students, teachers of the Institute.

In 1986 Andrey Koltsov won the Volga Regatta.

By the beginning of the 90s, the Yacht Club «Aist»  was considered one of the best yacht clubs in the country: the fleet consisted of more than 200 yachts, about a hundred students, 20 teachers.

Former students continue to carry the banner of the Yacht Club «Aist» high. In the city competitions constantly win the race crews of Vladimir Samsonov and Sergei Prokudin.

Seven of our graduates work in Moscow. And there they carry our flag high. So in 2021 Victoria Solovyova and Alexey Skorobogatov were second at the Moscow Regatta.
