On 12-16 September, Samara will host the finals of six international inter-university open competitions in the field of information security – VolgaCTF-2016.The VolgaCTF competitions attract the attention of the brightest young specialists from the world over, including such renowned institutions of higher education as Carnegie Mellon University (USA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Technische Universitat Munchen (Germany), and Katholic University Leuven (Belgium), etc. In 2016, the competitions gathered together 668 teams from 66 countries in the qualifying round and 16 teams from the Volga Federal District, Novosibirsk, Moscow, Tomsk, Ekaterinburg, the USA, Germany, Switzerland and Kazakhstan. Participation is expected by the scientific squadron of the Military Educational and Scientific Center “Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation” (Moscow). The competition finals will stretch over five days, encompassing: the arrival of competition participants, a seminar block (two days), the actual competitions, task analysis and the official closing of the competitions, as well as a cultural program for final participants and bonus assignments. Taking part in the event’s seminar block will be such companies as Positive Technologies, Security Code, Kaspersky Lab, InfoTeCS and Digital Security, as well as research-department specialists from the Sberbank Center for Cyber-Security and Gasinformservice LLC.The VolgaCTF competitions are being organized by the Samara Regional Department for Information Technologies and Communications, SRSO “For Information Society,” Samara University and Samara-Informsputnik OJSC.
