Since February 2016 Samara University has radically improved its position in the Webometrics rating, which assesses the world universities’ representation in the Internet.
Among the Russian Federation’s universities Samara University’s rank in the rating is 15. The university added nine positions in comparison with the previous year. So far, more than 1300 universities are represented in the Russian sector of the rating. The current version of the Webometrics rating for Russian universities is published here.
In the International Webometrics rating Samara University has demonstrated more active growth (817 positions at once) than in the Russian one. Now the university’s rank in the rating is 1596. It was achieved from the last year’s 2464 position.
The Webometrics rating covers more than 20 thousand universities throughout the world.

The International Webometrics rating has been carried out since 2004. It is made by Cybermetrics Lab included in Centro de Información y Documentación of the Spanish National Research Council. The rating assessing the representation of universities in the Internet is published twice a year. The criteria for the university sites analysis are, in particular, the number of external links, index-pages and citation index. Nonetheless, the rating compilers do not evaluate the site design and do not take into account its attendance.
