The adaptation seminars of the institutes lasted more than a month and traditionally took place on the territory of the Polet camp and the Raduga recreation center. The visits of the institutes differed in their program and subject matter. During the 3 days of the seminar, each first-year student was able not only to have a useful but also interesting time participating in various events and lectures.
"The adaptation seminar was excellent! Our group has really rallied together, and everyone has become real friends. Our curators and organizers created an unforgettable atmosphere and immersed us in a real fairy tale! Most of all, I liked the event where we showed the scene we had composed. Thank you for such a great opportunity to immerse yourself in childhood again and find real friends!" Anastasia Kaizer, a first-year student at the Faculty of Philology and Journalism, shared her impressions.
The seminars were carried out thanks to the activities of the organizers and curators of the institutes, under the guidance of employees of the socio-psychological center for extracurricular work management. The organizers compiled a convenient program for first-year students, prescribed activities that would help participants adapt to the group and show themselves.
"This year, at the request of the directorate, we have radically changed our approach to adaptation, focusing on teaching first-year students effective communications. With the organizing team, we have done a great job to make changes to all the events and to the work of the curators with their freshmen. Also, due to the large number of participants, we held events in two streams to improve their effectiveness and the atmosphere of the event. As a result, based on feedback from the curators and the freshmen themselves, we realized that we had coped with the task — the adaptation seminars were excellent and were remembered by the freshmen for a long time," recalls Sasha Maslyuk, cultural organizer of the Institute of Informatics and Cybernetics
A large amount of work was also done by the curators of academic groups. They were the ones who worked directly with the participants, taught them to work in a team and instilled love for their native institute. The curators themselves learned all this within the framework of the "School of Curators", where educational blocks were held for them. They helped the curators realize the importance of working with first-year students and gave them all the necessary knowledge. The educational blocks also addressed the issues of the psychological component of working with first-year students and provided an opportunity to try out the acquired knowledge in practice.
Assistant Program Director Polina Takhtarkina commented on the School of Curators 2024: "The “School of Curators” is an incredible training seminar that brought together all people who are not indifferent to the adaptation program. To see the burning eyes of the participants, their enthusiasm and desire for knowledge, to see the organizers of the seminar who are putting all their efforts into the full-fledged training of future curators, to see the administration, which is doing its best to create the best conditions for students - this is very valuable and reverent! The "School of Curators" has shown that the first-year students of our university are waiting for a great start to their student life, because so many people who consciously want to help them adapt are trying so hard and waiting for them very much! Moreover, the seminar once again made it possible to verify the unity of all the institutes of the beautiful Samara University!"
Here is what one of the curators of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism, Olya Polikarpova, who studied at the School of Curators this year and conducted 2 successful shifts at the adaptation seminar, says: "Being a curator and adapting first-year students is an important and responsible task. I still remember the school of curators with warmth and trepidation and apply the knowledge gained there not only in working with first-year students, but also in everyday life. The adaptation workshop’24 was one of the most exciting events in my life. Each freshman was able to prove him- or herself both as a team and individually. I was sincerely glad of their success, their budding friendship, and their unity. It was on adaptation that the doors of our university's asset opened to them to the end. The organizing and curatorial staff did everything to make the freshmen feel confident and realize their potential to the maximum."
The work of the curators does not end at the Adaptation Seminar — throughout the year they will supervise their groups and help them with various issues.
Adaptation seminars are one of the key points of formation of first-year students at the University. The visits were completed and allowed the freshmen to comfortably immerse themselves in the interesting life of the student body.
