On December 5–7, 2024, Samara University conducted the All-Russian Scientific Conference “Theory and Practice of Forms of Inter-genre Synthesis, Interaction and Mutual Reception of Literature and Arts Phenomena”, dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature and Public Relations.
The Conference was participated in the mixed format by representatives of leading universities of Samara and Russia (participants from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tomsk, Chelyabinsk, Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Rostov, Perm, Tyumen, Novosibirsk, etc. came and connected online), as well as from Belarus and China. During three days of the Conference, about 70 reports were presented in six sections at Samara University, and the methodological panel was held at Nayanova’s Academy for Gifted Children.
Aleksandr Yurievich Nesterov, Director of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities, opened the Conference with his welcoming speech, wishing the Department to develop and make discoveries. Professor Sergey Alekseevich Golubkov, who headed the Department during 20 years, delved into the history of the team and the scientific areas that colleagues developed and covered in their works. He remembered the series of scientific events and conferences that the Department organized and continues organizing, such as the conferences “Codes of Russian Classical Literature”, “Literature – Theater – Cinema”, “Modern” as a Problem in the History of Literature and Culture", etc., his work on monographic research on the novel theory and authenticity of artistic statement, problems of borders, the theory of the author, the theory and history of folklore, the history of the Russian avant-garde, the poetics of Russian classical literature and Russian fiction of the 1920s, Russian drama and fiction of the 20th century.
The Conference participants’ presentations were devoted to the issues of inter-genre synthesis in literature and the problems of reception. The processes of inter-genre and stylistic synthesis in literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, interaction of the lyrical and epic in drama, novelization of literature genres were discussed, questions of interpretation and analysis of literary text were raised, many participants drew attention to the problems of mutual reception of art forms (literature/theater, literature/cinema, literature/fine arts).
The Methodological Panel to be held as part of the Conference on December 7, was attended by pupils of Nayanova’s Academy for Gifted Children. Together with A.Yu. Nesterov, Doctor of Philosophy, L.G. Tyutelova, Doctor of Philology, A.S. Gotlib, Doctor of Sociology, and I.I. Kogan, Candidate of Philology, they were able to examine problems of fiction-text interpretation in terms of various humanities and research approaches.
During the Conference, there were many congratulations addressed to the Department and wishes for continuing scientific cooperation, stated by philologists from various scientific centres of the country. Its graduates, many of whom work at universities in Samara and other regions of the country, also shared their memories of various periods of the Department’s activity.
