The Primakov Centre hosted the Round Table “Development of Methods and Technologies of Information Warfare During Internal Political Conflicts: International Experience”. The event was organized jointly with the School of International Information Security of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia.

The event moderators were:

·         Arevik Martirosyan, Researcher at the Institute of Current International Problems (IAMP), Head of the IAMP School of International Information Security at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia;

·         Vitaly Roshchupkin, Director of the Primakov Regional Centre for Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations (Samara University), Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor.

Participants in the Round Table were students of Samara University (Tatiana Poleshkina, Dana Chibilkaeva, Anastasia Fatkhutdinova, Nikolay Kulakevich, Sofia Oldukova, Maria Artemieva), the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia (Aleksey Kiselev, Denis Puchkov, Natalia Metlitskaya, Angelina Timoshenko, Artem Blonsky).

Information warfare is integral part of modern domestic and foreign policy conflicts, and its role will only increase. For effectively countering information influence, it is required the integrated approach including development of media literacy, cooperation between the state, civil society and media organizations, as well as creation of tools for checking and exposing fake news.

The Round Table was an important step in comprehending the complex dynamics of information conflicts and finding effective strategies to counter them. The participants confirmed the need for further researching and exchanging experience, for the purpose of ensuring information security and stability of society.
