Vyacheslav and Ksenia Pototsky, a student family from Samara University, successfully represented the University and the Samara Region at the All-Russian Forum "Family – the Fourth Mission of the University," held from April 2–4 at Tambov State University named after G.R. Derzhavin.
The event was organized under the national project "Family," initiated by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation, underscoring its significance at the federal level.
The forum, dedicated to the central theme of family and its role in modern society, opened with a ceremonial concert and welcoming remarks from officials. Governor of Tambov Region Evgeny Pervyshov addressed the audience, followed by Tambov Region’s Minister of Social Protection and Family Policy N.Yu. Mashkova, who outlined state policies for supporting young families. Rector of Tambov State University Pavel Moiseev also delivered a welcome speech.
The forum’s primary focus was preserving and popularizing family values among young people. Vyacheslav and Ksenia actively engaged in sessions aligned with this mission over three days:
· A strategic session titled "Young Family – the Present and Future of the State," addressing current issues in state support for families.
· A thematic session "Healthy Family – Healthy Russia," exploring factors influencing family psychological well-being.
· A session "Family History – Russia’s History," aimed at strengthening intergenerational bonds.
· Lectures by leading experts on financial literacy for young families.
The forum culminated in a Plenary Session attended by federal and regional government representatives, highlighting the importance of the topics discussed. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to preserving and strengthening traditional Russian family values.
Speakers included Olga Petrova, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, Evgeny Pervyshov, Governor of Tambov Region, Nina Ostanina, Chair of the State Duma Committee on Family, Fatherhood, Motherhood, and Childhood, Tamara Frolova, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Pavel Moiseev, Rector of Tambov State University, Tamara Rostovskaya, Deputy Director for Research at the Institute of Demographic Studies (FCTAS RAS), Doctor of Sociological Sciences, Professor.
Following the plenary session, the Pototskys personally met with Professor Tamara Rostovskaya, who emphasized: “Promoting the institution of prosperous young (student) families is crucial. Such families traditionally involve couples who marry young, focusing on raising children. Young families need not just financial support but also housing, kindergartens, healthcare, flexible work schedules, tailored academic plans, and childcare solutions."
The forum provided Vyacheslav and Ksenia with invaluable experience, deepening their understanding of family policy and enhancing their competencies in this field. Their participation underscored Samara University’s commitment to fostering socially responsible leaders and contributing to national dialogue on family values.
