April 3, 2025 — Liliya Khadorich, a representative of the Regional Centre for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov, presented the outcomes of the Center’s work on the Ibero-American track in 2024 at the annual General Meeting of the Association of Ibero-American World Researchers (ROO “AIIM”) held at the Institute of Latin America of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ILA RAS).
The event was attended by Alexander V. Shchetinin, Director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry; Vladimir M. Davydov, Scientific Supervisor of ILA RAS, President of AIIM, and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences; Dmitry M. Rozental, Director of ILA RAS, Candidate of Historical Sciences; other ILA RAS staff, as well as colleagues from academic centers and universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kursk, and Kazan.
Experts held a scientific discussion on “Change in the Global Context. Consequences for Latin America” and raised a number of pressing questions that specialists will need to address to enhance the effectiveness of Russian foreign policy in the Latin American direction.
ILA RAS presented book publications released under its auspices in 2024. One of these, “Mexico: The Legacy of A.M. López Obrador in the Agenda of C. Sheinbaum’s Presidency” from the “Summit” series, will soon be added to the library of the Regional Centre for the Development of Public Diplomacy and International Relations named after Yevgeniy M. Primakov.
Additionally, the editors-in-chief of three specialized journals — “Latin America”, “Iberoamérica”, and “Iberoamerican Notebooks” — presented their periodicals. Colleagues from AIIM’s regional centers also highlighted their achievements and prospects.
Concluding the meeting, AIIM President Vladimir Mikhailovich Davydov noted with satisfaction that the geography of Latin American studies in Russia is expanding. He called on colleagues to strengthen cooperation to further popularize professional research on the Ibero-American world.
