Students of the Faculty of Biology Participated in the XII All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum with International Participation Open Science 2025

On November 14, students of the Department of Human and Animal Physiology, Svetlana Laukhina and Ekaterina Milshina, presented their reports at the All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum.

As is known, in accordance with a decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the period from 2022 to 2031 has been declared the Decade of Science and Technology in Russia. The XII All-Russian Youth Scientific Forum with international participation, Open Science 2025, was held as part of this Decade of Science and Technology at the B.P. Konstantinov Petersburg Nuclear Physics Institute of the National Research Centre "Kurchatov Institute" in Gatchina.

The students participated in the "Genetics, Biomedicine, Biophysics" section with the following reports: "Using the Barnes Maze test setup and the Marble Burying test to assess compulsive behavior in rats in a ropinirole-induced OCD model" (Ekaterina Milshina) and "Using the Barnes Maze test setup to assess feeding behavior in rats in a ropinirole-induced model of binge eating disorder" (Svetlana Laukhina).

"I was very impressed by the scale of the Forum and the enormous variety of report sections," notes Svetlana, "I was particularly interested in the plenary presentation by Irina Vladimirovna Ogneva, Chief Researcher at the Gagarin Research & Test Cosmonaut Training Center, Head of the Cell Biophysics Laboratory at the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation – Institute of Biomedical Problems, Russian Academy of Sciences, on the topic 'The Influence of Space Flight Factors on Animal Reproduction.' I gained a lot of additional useful information from the report."

"I especially liked the 'Genetics, Biomedicine, Biophysics' section," says Ekaterina, "there were many interesting reports, especially those related to genetics, as it is one of the important areas of modern biology."

Participation in scientific conferences of this kind plays a positive role in shaping scientific thinking among young people and elevates the significance of their research to a new level.
