On December 12–13, 2025, the annual conference of young historians, "The XXXI All-Russian Platonov Readings," named after the outstanding historian S.F. Platonov, took place at the Faculty of History of Samara University. The youth scientific forum has been held since 1996 on the initiative of the Department of Russian History.
The conference's organizing committee is chaired by Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Russian History, and Honorary Citizen of Samara Region, P.S. Kabytov.
The XXXI Platonov Readings were attended by 72 students, postgraduates, and applicants from 10 Russian cities: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Orenburg, Samara, Kazan, Saratov, Tolyatti, Ulyanovsk, Penza, and Irkutsk.
Participants represented 15 higher educational institutions of the country, including Lomonosov Moscow State University, Patrice Lumumba Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, HSE University, European University at St. Petersburg, Kazan Federal University, as well as Samara National Research University and other leading universities.
Welcoming addresses to the conference participants were delivered by the First Vice-Rector – Vice-Rector for Research of Samara University, A.I. Rozentsvaig, and the Vice-Rector for Educational Work and Youth Policy, M.M. Leonov.
The conference's distinguished guests were the Head of the Center for Economic History at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Viktor Viktorovich Kondrashin, who presented a report titled "The Russian Peasantry During the Great Patriotic War," and Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor of Ulyanovsk State Pedagogical University, Lyudmila Valeryevna Klimovich.
Participants' reports were distributed across five thematic sections and one online section.
First places in the sections were awarded to:
Section I "Socio-Economic and Foreign Policy Issues in Russian History" – Anna Denisovna Kozhushkova, a student of Samara University, with the report "Archaeological Evidence of Agricultural Practices of the Sedentary Population of the Middle Volga Region in the Early Middle Ages."
Section II "State and Society in Russian History" – Alexander Sergeevich Sleptsov, a postgraduate student at the European University at St. Petersburg, with the report "Nicholas II's Journey to the Caucasus in November–December 1914: Its Role and Place in the Military 'Scenario of Power' of the Don Cossack Host Oblast."
Section III "History of Social and Historical Thought, Political Parties and Movements" – Irina Dmitrievna Yantsen, a postgraduate student at Samara University, with the report "Reflection of the Post-War Adaptation Problem of Female Participants of the Great Patriotic War in Russian Cinema."
Section IV "History of Russian Culture and Everyday Life" – Kirill Mikhailovich Yershov, a master's student at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, with the report "Activities of the First Children's Clubs in the Russian Empire in the Early 20th Century."
Section V "History of Russia in the 20th Century: Problems and Search for Solutions" – Evgenia Vyacheslavovna Karmanova, a postgraduate student at Samara University, with the report "Materials from the Fond of the Kuibyshev Regional Committee of the Komsomol as a Source on the History of the Agro-Industrial Complex of Kuibyshev Region in the 1970s–1980s."
Online Section – Sergei Nikolaevich Egorov, a postgraduate student at Penza State University, with the report "Training of Secondary Medical Personnel in Penza Province During the First World War."
The panel of professors selected Irina Dmitrievna Yantsen, a postgraduate student at Samara University, as the laureate of the XXXI All-Russian Platonov Readings.
