This year, 60 best enrollees will be selected in Samara for the targeted training of engine assembly engineers under Krylya Rostekha (Rostec Wings) program

UEC-Kuznetsov Samara enterprise (part of the Rostec State Corporation) has announced the acceptance of applications from future enrollees for the training program for new generation engineers Rostec Wings. This year, the admission to the group in the specialty "Design of aviation and rocket engines" has been increased by more than 1.5 times. It is planned to select to this group 60 of the most talented graduates of the 11th grades.
Samara University joined the Rostec Wings project at the beginning of 2021, so this year's targeted admission is already the third.
"Targeted training at Samara University has reached a new level in recent years. The organizations themselves conduct competitive selection of candidates for targeted training, then tripartite agreements for targeted training are concluded, according to which all parties – the enterprise, the higher education institution and the enrollee – assume obligations. Currently, 320 students are studying at the university precisely within the targeted admission quota. And the largest number of enrollees enter exactly under Rostec Wings program," Rector of Samara University Vladimir Bogatyrev noted.
Now, according to a special program developed by the University and UEC-Kuznetsov, 34 first-year students and 20 2nd-year students are already studying at the Institute of Engine and Power Plant Engineering. Two years of experience shows: these are well-motivated, promising young people. Already in the first year, future engine assembly engineers received the vocational profession of a turner, they do regular practical training in manufacturing plant, have adapted at the enterprise and show high results in their studies.
"UEC-Kuznetsov, as one of the largest employers in the region, can give a young specialist involved in strategic projects for the country not only serious engineering training, but also opportunities for continuous professional development, career growth and scientific work. The targeted selection of students is the company's investment in the future, which at UEC-Kuznetsov is determined for decades to come thanks to the growing volume of orders not only for the production and maintenance of our engines, but also for the development of new promising engines," UEC-Kuznetsov PJSC Managing Director Alexey Sobolev said.
First-year students in 2023 will gain knowledge both in the subjects of study traditional for engine assembly engineers, and in new additional training programs – 3D modeling and programming. Along with the theory, students receive on the job training in the UEC-Kuznetsov from the very first year. The incentive payment from the company is from 20 thousand to 35 thousand rubles. The costs for the Internet, a hostel and a transport card are also compensated, salary are accrued during practical training and project work.
High requirements are imposed on enrollees. According to the UEC-Kuznetsov, one must have a total USE score of at least 220, and the average score of the certificate of complete secondary education – at least 4, to participate in the Rostec Wings program in Samara upon admission to Samara University. It is also necessary to know English at a level not lower than A2 by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Additional individual achievements are taken into account, such as victories in Olympiads in physics, mathematics, and foreign languages. In addition, enrollees must answer motivational survey questions that reveal interest in the chosen profession. A motivational survey can bring an extra score.
According to the data provided by the Rostec State Corporation, similar requirements apply in all partners – higher education institutions that participate in the program. The difference is only in the required total USE score. In Moscow, it is at least 245, in St. Petersburg – at least 225. In addition to Samara, enrollees in Rybinsk, Ufa, Perm, Kazan and Omsk must have a score of at least 220. 200 scores is the minimum for Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Nizhny Novgorod, and 195 – for Ulyanovsk and Komsomolsk-on-Amur.
"We are making every effort to attract the strongest and most motivated guys to Rostec Wings. We guarantee students finding jobs from the first year and a social package. Including the subjects of study for the development of professional competencies to the educational project, increasing the hands-on learning of academic subjects of study based on plant realities is also our area of responsibility,” Rostec State Corporation Director of Human Resources Yulia Tsvetkova said.
Rostec Wings educational program was launched to train multidisciplinary engineering and technical specialists for aerospace-engineering enterprises. UEC JSC, UAC PJSC, Russian Helicopters JSC, KRET JSC and Tekhnodinamika JSC were among its industrial partners.
Since the launch of Rostec Wings project in 2020, the number of participating higher education institutions has grown from 9 to 15. These are specialized universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rybinsk, Kazan, Samara, Ufa, Perm, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Ulyanovsk, Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Nizhny Novgorod and Omsk. The key methodological partner is the Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI, National Research University).
According to Rostec State Corporation, the selection of enrollees for Rostec Wings program of targeted training of engineers of a new generation for the aircraft industry will increase by more than 1.5 times. And this is despite the fact that about 580 students are already studying under this program in 7 directions of training, and it itself has gone beyond the initial framework of higher education and also covers the training of workers through secondary vocational education (SVE) for the aircraft industry and vocational guidance for schoolchildren.
