The Open Doors International Olympiad gives applicants from neighboring Kazakhstan the green light to study at the Samara National Research University .
Samara University is located in the heart of Russia! Today it is a multidisciplinary scientific and educational center offering 280 unique educational programs in the field of exact, natural and socio-humanitarian sciences, economics and law.
The University is named after Academician Sergei Pavlovich Korolev, a brilliant Soviet designer of rockets and spacecraft. It was thanks to Korolev that the world's first space harbor, the Baikonur Cosmodrome, appeared in the steppes of Kazakhstan. Graduates of the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute (now Samara University) created a launch vehicle that put into orbit a ship with the first cosmonaut of the planet Yuri Alekseevich Gagarin. And Samara University scientists have something to be proud of in the field of aerospace technologies. The University's mission is to increase objective knowledge and introduce innovative solutions for space exploration and improve the quality of life on Earth.
Today, interdisciplinary research is actively developing at Samara University, new experimental scientific and educational platforms - greenfields - are being created in such advanced areas as artificial intelligence, biotechnology and socio-humanitarian cybernetics.
Samara University has 18,000 students, of which more than 800 are foreign students from 68 countries. A quarter of them – 205 people – consider Kazakhstan their homeland. And this is more than from any other country in the world!
The University has concluded cooperation agreements with three major universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan: Al Farabi Kazakh National University, Gumarbek Daukeev Almaty University of Energy and Communications, and the Military Institute of the Air Defense Forces named after Twice Hero of the Soviet Union T.Ya. Begeldinov.
Arina Zaitseva, a student at the Institute of Economics and Management, came to Samara from Petropavlovsk.
"I chose Samara University because it combines the most modern educational programs, experienced teachers, as well as a huge number of student activities that help to open up not only in studies, but also in life. The first thing that attracted me at the admission stage was a convenient and intuitive website, which immediately showed a high level of organization, as well as bright and creatively designed social networks," Arina Zaitseva shared.
Yerzhan Bikbau enrolled in the Faculty of Biology, graduated from bachelor's and master's degrees, and now continues to study in graduate school.
"In addition to studying and research, the University has a million opportunities to unlock our skills and abilities. For example, in 2019, I decided that the Natural Science Institute lacked its own media. That's how the "Big Secret" appeared. The media is managed by another team, and it has long reached the university level. At the Mister International competition, I got the opportunity to talk about my country – and it's great!" said Yerzhan Bikbau. He advises future students not to be afraid to take risks, to voice their ideas, to follow the recommendations of teachers and scientific supervisors. And also treat the criticism of experts sensibly and objectively. "Competent time management and self-development are equal to the ideal successful student of Samara University," Yerzhan Bikbau deduced the formula for success for himself.
Vladimir Bogatyrev, Rector of Samara University:
"Russia is in the first place in the ranking of countries that students from Kazakhstan choose to receive education. And this is not accidental. The mutually beneficial partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia is due to the historical community of ties, a similar vector of economic and industrial development. Today, the leadership of Kazakhstan expresses great interest in developing cooperation in the field of education and science.
At Samara University, the number of students from Kazakhstan is also higher than from other countries. And we are interested in enrolling students in both technical and humanitarian fields of study. Especially considering the strong ties that unite Samara and Baikonur!
As a result of negotiations held in Astana in September during the conference "Sustainable Development and Security in the Eurasian Space", an agreement was reached on attracting foreign undergraduates using such a tool as participation in the international Open Doors Olympiad, which allows covering more than a hundred countries.
I invite Kazakhstani applicants to Samara. The uniqueness of our approach to education lies in the implementation of the principle of "Learning through research" on the one hand, and on the other – in the development of entrepreneurial skills among our students thanks to both the technical entrepreneurship program and the opportunity to defend a startup project as a final qualifying work."
