Samara University became a participant in the international forum on combating crime

Anastasia Alekseevna Karyakina, student of the Institute of Law of Samara University took part in the International Youth Forum on Combating Crime "The Transformation of Crime in Modern Conditions", held in Moscow from October 25 to October 27, 2024, organized by the O.E. Kutafin Moscow State Law University.

The International Forum is a large-scale and prestigious event that brought together outstanding young scientists, inventors and researchers from different regions of Russia. To participate in the forum, participants have previously passed a competitive selection process. At the opening ceremony of the forum, welcoming remarks were made by:

·         Ilya Valentinovich Chechelnitsky, First Deputy Head of the Business Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Russian Federation, Candidate of Law;

·         Viktor Vladimirovich Blazheev – Rector of the O.E. Kutafin Moscow State Law University, Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation, Co-chairman of the Association of Lawyers of Russia, Professor;

·         Vakhtang Vazhayevich Fedorov, Director of the O.E. Kutafin University Alumni Association, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor.

·         The participants of the forum were waiting for a panel discussion on the topic "Violence in a changing world", in which there spoke:

·         Yuri Miranovich Antonyan (Soviet and Russian legal scientist, specialist in criminology, psychiatry and legal psychology, Honored Scientist of the RSFSR, Honored Worker of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, Honorary Worker of Higher Professional Education of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Law, Professor) with the topic "Immutability of violence";

·         Elena Igorevna Galyashina (Head of the Department of Criminology at O. E. Kutafin University, Doctor of Law, Doctor of Philology, Professor, Honorary Worker of Education of the Russian Federation) with the topic of the speech "Violence in the information space";

·         Eva Mikhailovna Merkacheva (member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, journalist, human rights activist) with the topic "Violence in places of forced detention. Types of violence, causes and ways to reduce it."

Immediately after the opening ceremony, the forum participants went to breakout sessions, where they presented their work and solved situational, practical and theoretical problems prepared by the organizers. Isa Khamzatovich Dakashev (lecturer at the Department of Criminal and Penal Enforcement Law of the Samara Law Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service, Major of the Internal Service), Sergey Borisovich Leonov (Chairman of the Public Supervisory Commission of the Moscow Region for the implementation of public control over ensuring human rights in places of forced detention and assistance to persons, to those in places of forced detention, a member of the Council under the Governor of the Moscow Region for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights) and Svetlana Nikolaevna Semenova (Commissioner for Human Rights in the Irkutsk Region).

On the second day of the forum, two career workshops with leading lawyers, military and civilian prosecutors, investigators and judges of Russia were organized for the participants. They told the participants about their career path, the difficulties of working in a particular profession and gave advice based on personal experience.

We asked Anastasia Alekseevna to share her impressions: "Participation in this forum was an amazing opportunity to gain invaluable experience and new knowledge that will be useful in further education. The entire forum was organized and conducted at a high level. Meetings with participants from different cities of Russia, experts of the judicial system allowed me to expand my knowledge. I would like to thank the organizers of the International Youth Crime Forum "Transformation of Crime in Modern Conditions" for the opportunity to become a part of such an event. I also want to express my special gratitude to the leadership of the Law Institute of Samara University and the scientific supervisor Olga Valeryevna Klimanova.

Following the results of the forum, Anastasia Alekseevna received a participant's diploma and memorable gifts, as well as the opportunity for further publication.
