Five directions of training of the Youth Aerospace School became cosmic classes: “Fundamentals of Astronautics,” “Fundamentals of Astronomy,” “Aeromodelling,” “Programming of Microcontrollers,” “Experimental Rocketry.”
The Youth Aerospace School of Samara National Research University is intended for training children of secondary school age from 7th to 11th grade, who are interested in aviation and rocket-and-space subject matter. Work in the school is organized according to schooling years with several lecture and practical courses. And five of them were granted with status “cosmic classes.” They include the following: “Fundamentals of Astronautics” and “Fundamentals of Astronomy” at the first schooling year “Aeromodelling” at the second schooling year, “Programming of Microcontrollers” and “Experimental Rocketry” at the third year.
“Qualification was remotely performed,” says Director of the School, Professor, Head of the Department of Flight Dynamics and Control Olga Starinova, “we submitted documentation related to our school into the Roscosmos, qualified, and five our directions of training became entitled as cosmic classes of the Roscosmos.”
The YAS received guidance materials from the state corporation, which will be used in the work of directions now. Graduating students of this directions will obtain certificate confirming that they completed a cosmic class.
“Point of interest: works of winners of our drawing competition will be signed by active astronauts and returned to Samara. Authors will receive such a rarity,” added Olga Leonardovna, “this status will be also helpful in organizing industrial excursions to enterprises of the state corporation. In Samara, the most important objects are Progress Rocket and Space Center and Tyazhmash OJSC. This entails precisely examining the enterprises’ workshops.”
We should note the following: the school was established at the premises of the Institute of Aerospace Engineering of Samara University, the education in it is absolutely free. During education, school students study mathematics and physics, work on scientific and technical projects under supervision of employees, postgraduate students, and students of Samara University, become familiar with laboratories and research and development centers of the University, address conferences. Graduate school students are prepared for passing uniform state exams in mathematics and physics.
