For several years Samara National Research University has consistently been improving its performance in both Russian and international rankings.

GLOBAL RANKINGS

QS World University Rankings

• In 2017 Samara National Research University, for the first time, entered the global QS World University Rankings (QS), annually compiled by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds and joined the group of universities that share positions from 800 to 1000. In total, 24 universities represent Russia in the QS World University Rankings.
• In 2018 Samara University significantly improved its performance in it and moved to the group of universities occupying positions from 701 to 750.
• In 2019 Samara University improved its performance and moved to the group of universities occupying positions from 651 to 700.
• In 2020 Samara University moved up more than 50 positions and moved from the 651-700 group to the list of universities sharing positions from 591 to 600.
• In 2021 Samara University moved from the 591 to 600 group of universities to the list of universities sharing positions from 581 to 590.
• In 2022 Samara University moved to the group of universities occupying positions from 601 to 650.

THE World University Rankings

• 2016 – Samara University is for the first time included in the ranking of the world’s top universities according to the Times Higher Education British magazine. It entered the group of universities sharing positions from 801 to 980.
• In 2017 the university improved its ranking indicators significantly and moved to the list of universities that share positions from 601 to 800.
• In 2018 Samara University went to the group of universities sharing positions 801 to 1000 of the global part of this study and ranked 14th position out of 35 universities in the Russian list of universities.
• In 2019 and 2020 the more competitive situation (the number of universities participating in the ranking increased from 1,258 to 1,396) affected the results. According to the research, Samara University entered the group of universities 1001+.
• During 2021, the number of universities included in the Global Ranking has grown from 1,527 to 1,662, they represent 99 countries and regions of the world. The number of Russian universities has also increased - from 48 in 2020 to 60 in 2021. As a result, Samara University moved to the group of universities 1201+.

SUBJECT AND THEMATIC RANKINGS

THE World University Rankings by subject

Engineering & Technology

• In 2017 Samara University is for the first time included in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings by subject. In the study of THE World University Rankings 2018 by subject: Engineering and Technology, universities that have outstanding world-class competencies in engineering and technology are evaluated. Samara University joined the group of universities that share positions from 401 to 500 in this direction.
• In 2018 Samara University has confirmed its position in the ranking.
• In 2019 and 2020 Samara University is located in the group of universities that sharing positions from 601 to 800 in the rating.

Physical Sciences

• In 2018 Samara University is included for the first time in the international subject rating in the field of «Physical Sciences», compiled by the British edition of Times Higher Education (THE). Samara University is located in a group of universities sharing positions from 501 to 600 in this direction among 963 universities in the world.
• In 2019 Samara University went to the group of universities sharing positions from 601 to 800 in this direction. Along with Samara University, nine Russian universities are included in this group of experts, including MSTU named after Bauman, RUDN University, ETU «LETI».
• In 2020 Samara University is located in the group of universities sharing positions from 801 to 1000 in the rating.

Computer Science

• In 2018 Samara University for the first time entered in the subject rating of THE World University Rankings 2019 by subject: Computer Science, where the best universities of the planet in the field of Computer Science are evaluated. The University is included by experts in the group of universities taking places from 501 to 600.
• In 2019 and 2020 Samara University is in the group 601–800.

QS World University Rankings by Subject

Engineering - Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing

• In 2018 Samara University included in the international subject ranking QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 in the direction of Engineering - Mechanical, Aeronautical & Manufacturing. Samara University is located among the universities sharing positions from 351 to 400.
• In 2020 and 2021 Samara university took places in the group of universities located in positions from 401 to 450.

Physics & Astronomy

• In 2017 Samara University entered the international QS ranking for the first time, in which universities are evaluated on the basis of learning outcomes in 46 subjects. It moved to the group of universities occupying positions 450 – 500 in Physics & Astronomy.
• In 2018 Samara University included in the international subject rating QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019 in the group of universities sharing positions from 501 to 550 in this direction.
• In 2020 experts attributed Samara University to a group of universities ranking in positions from 551 to 600.

THEMATIC AND REGIONAL RANKINGS

QS University Rankings: Emerging Europe and Central Asia (QS EECA)

• In 2015 Samara University for the first time joined the top 150 universities in the QS EECA Ranking.
• 2016 – a year earlier, the University went up to more than 30 positions at once and became one of the top 110 universities in developing countries of Europe and Central Asia according to the QS ranking agency.
• In 2017 Samara University entered the first hundred of the international QS EECA University Ranking and ranked 99 among 300 universities from 20 countries of the world. The ranking includes universities of the former "Eastern Bloc" (the Czech Republic, Poland), Turkey, CIS and Baltic countries.
• In 2018 Samara University strengthened its position in the top 100 ranking and reached the 98th position.
• In 2019 Samara University confirmed its position in the top 100 universities of QS EECA. The University is at 98th position in the overall ranking and 23th position in the Russian list of universities.
• In 2020 Samara University took the 105th position in the overall ranking and 22nd position in the Russian part of the list.
• In 2021 Experts ranked Samara University 110th position in the overall ranking and 22nd position in the Russian part of the list.

QS BRICS University Rankings

• In 2014 Samara University was included in the QS Top Universities BRICS Ranking for the first time. Samara University entered 151-200 group of universities. In 2015 and 2016 the result was the same.
• In 2017 Samara University went up to the 93rd position in the list of the top 100 universities of the BRICS countries. The university demonstrated a rapid growth compared with the indicators of the previous ranking and immediately climbed 58 positions.
• In 2018 Samara University improved its position and upgraded from the 93d position to 86th position. In the Russian part of the rating the University also improved its position and rose from the 23d position to 20th position.

THE European University Ranking 2017

• In 2017 Samara University entered the top 400 universities in Europe according to THE – Best universities in Europe 2017. Samara National Research University entered 301+ group of this ranking.

THE BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings

• In 2016 Samara University entered the TOP-300 THE BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2017. Experts of British edition «Times Higher Education» analyzed the performance of the top universities from 50 countries of the world. Samara University entered the group of universities sharing positions from 251 to 300.
• In 2018 Samara University went up to more than a hundred positions in THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018. The university demonstrated impressive results, climbing from position 251-300 to the 123rd line of the ranking.
• In 2020 Samara University entered the group 251-300 in the overall ranking and shares 16-17 positions with Ural Federal University in the Russian part of the list.

THE University Ranking of Eurasia Nations

• In 2018 Samara National Research University named after S.P. Korolev entered the THE university ranking of Eurasia nations for the first time and took the 25th position. The study is based on internationally recognized performance indicators such as the gold standards of the overall ranking of world universities THE (Times Higher Education World University Rankings). In total, the rating included 74 leading universities from 16 countries.

Webometrics Ranking of World Universities

• In February 2017 Samara University immediately went up to 817 positions in the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The university moved from position 2464 to 1596. Among the universities of the Russian Federation, Samara University occupied the 15th line of the ranking. It climbed nine positions compared with August 2016.
• In 2018 Samara University moved the 1669th position, among Russian higher education institutions took the 18th position.
• In 2019 Samara University strengthened its position in the global ranking, rising to 91st position (compared to February 2019). According to data at the end of July, the University took the 1587th position. Samara University is on the 19th among Russian higher education institutions. 
• In 2020 Samara University went up to 23 positions in the global ranking, moving from the 1587th (August 2019) to the 1564th position. Among the universities of the Russian Federation, Samara University occupied the 18th position.
• In 2021 Samara University significantly improved its position in the global ranking, moving to the 1433d position (a year earlier – the 1564th). Samara University ranks the 21st position among the universities of the Russian Federation. 
• In July 2021 the University went up to the 1392d position.

Round University Ranking (RUR)

• In 2017 Samara National Research University entered the RUR World University Ranking for the first time. The university ranked the 22nd among Russian research participants and the 613th in the global ranking.
• In 2018 Samara University took the 24th position among the Russian participants.
• In 2020 Samara University took the 54th position among the Russian participants of the RUR-2020 ranking.
• In 2021 Samara University went up to 22nd position among Russian participants in the ranking.

RUSSIAN RANKINGS

RAEX (Expert RA) Russian University Ranking

2016

• Position 26 in the overall ranking (in 2012 it started from position 35).
• Position 15 in the list of the top Russian universities in nomination "The Demand for Graduates by Employers".
• Position 18 in the group of Russian universities with the highest level of research activity.
• Position 21 in the annual reputation ranking of universities in integrated areas.

2018

• Position 22 in the annual ranking by reputation of universities within broad fields: « Technical and Natural Sciences and Exact Sciences».

2021

• Position 46 in the overall ranking

2022

• Position 44 in the ranking

The Best University for Entrepreneurship Ranking

• In 2018 Analytical Media Holding Center «Expert» assessed the ability of Russian universities to form the entrepreneur and innovator. The ranking included 38 universities. Experts ranked Samara University the position 21-22.
• In 2019 Samara University went up to six positions and took the position 15-6 in the ranking.
• In 2020 Samara University ranked the 17th position.
• In 2021 the University moved to the position 26-28.
• In 2022 Samara University ranked the 26th position in the extended ranking.

The Ranking of Inventive Activity of the Russian Universities 

• In 2019 Analytical Center «Expert» presented a new research of inventive activity of Russian universities. Samara University went up to the position 7-9 in the ranking (the position 23-28 in 2018).
• In 2020 Samara University ranked by experts the position 8-9.
• In 2021 the University went to the 9th position of the ranking.

The University Ranking for Economics 

• In 2020 Analytical Center «Expert» presented a new research of the level of satisfaction for companies with the quality of graduates in the sphere of high technologies. Samara University ranked the 19th position. In the Russian subject ranking (Chemical and Biological Science and Technology, Power Engineering, Engineering and Industry) the University went to the position 8-9.

Russian University Rankings by subject RAEX (Expert RA)

2020

• Samara University entered the three subject rankings by leading RAEX Agency in categories at the same time: Mathematics (14th position), Engineering and Robotics (10th position), Engineering and Technologies (22th position).

2021

• Samara University entered the two subject rankings by leading RAEX Agency in categories: Natural Sciences and Mathematics (19th position) and Engineering (19th position).

2022

• Samara University entered the top three Russian universities in the program «Aircraft and Space Rocket Engineering». Samara University also entered the TOP-20 seven subject rankings:

National University Ranking (Interfax Group Project)

2016

• Position 21 in the overall ranking (in 2011-2013, it was ranked from 61 to 64).
• Position 15 according to "Education" criterion among Russian universities.
• Position 18 according to "Research" criterion.

2017

• In the overall ranking Samara University moved from 21 to 38 position. The key feature of this year was the trend to decrease the position of the overwhelming majority of universities, which in the past two years were transformed through mergers.

2018

• Samara University retained its position of 2017, taking the 38th position in the overall ranking.

2019

• Samara University retained its position of 2018, taking the 38th position in the overall ranking and ranked the top 100 Russian universities.

2020

• Samara University moved from 21 to 38 position.

2021

• Samara University ranked by experts the position 41 in the overall ranking and ranked the top 100 Russian universities.

2022

• Samara University ranked by experts the position 35-36 in the overall ranking and ranked the top 100 Russian universities.

THEMATIC RANKINGS

The Ranking of Universities According to the Vladimir Potanin Charitable Foundation

The universities-participants of the Vladimir Potanin Fellowship Programme, addressed to graduate students and teachers of master’s degree courses, are evaluated.

• Position 10 according to the results of 2014-2015 academic year. A year earlier the university occupied the 44th line.
• Position 60 on the results 2017-2018 academic year.
• Position 51-52 on the results 2018-2019 academic year.

Superjob Rankings (Salary Ranking of Russian Universities Graduates)

• In 2016 Samara University took the 20th position according to the level of salaries of young professionals of the IT industry. 
• In 2017 Samara University improved its performance and climbed to the 18th position. 
• In 2018 Samara University moved from 18 to 15 position over the year according to the level of salaries of young professionals for the IT industry. According to the level of salaries of graduates for the program «Finance and Economics» the University moved from 18 to 17 position.
• In 2020 according to the level of salaries of graduates for the program «Finance and Economics» the University took the 14th position.
• In 2021 according to the level of salaries of graduates for the program «Economics» the University took the 15th position, according to the same level of specialists for the IT industry the University went to the 18th position.
• In 2021 according to the level of salaries of graduates for the program «Law» the University took the 11th position in the overall ranking and the 4th in the Volga Federal District ranking.
• In 2022 Samara University ranked the 20th position according to the level of salaries of young professionals for the IT industry

Graduate Employability Monitoring

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation conducts the annual monitoring of employment and average wages of Russian universities graduates.

• In 2014 Samara State Aerospace University entered the top nine Russian leading universities, where the graduate employment rate was 100%. Moreover, only two universities that were awarded the category of the National Research University – SSAU and MIPT were among the best. In total, during the monitoring, the data on 1 million 200 thousand graduates of 2013, who completed studies in more than 1,100 areas of training and specialties, were processed.
• In 2015 the level of employment of SSAU graduates was 90% according to the results of monitoring in 2014.
